Just got my UT-122 board for the R2500. P25 audio on this receiver is fantastic - everyone was right.

My question is if there is a way to listen to a channel that has mixed communications (both analog and P25)? I have played with the Automatic and On settings but it seems like it's only a choice of one or the other. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

From what I've seen of the Icom software, no. The only way I could see doing it would be to run the main receiver for P25, and run the secondary receiver in analog FM with a PL or DPL programmed to mask the P25 transmission.

There was some discussion of this in the TrunkPCR Yahoogroup, but I was only half paying attention to the messages. I'm not sure yet if that software offers a solution or if it's on the wishlist.

Thanks Scott. Darn - not what I wanted to hear. That makes it difficult when doing a programmed range scan and wanting to listen on whatever mode happens to pop up.

Doh!

I have concluded the same thing. It is obvious the P25 module is an add-on/afterthought in this receiver and due Icom basing it on the heritage of PCR1000/1500.

We simply haven't found the flexibility we see in scanners.

Perhaps if there were a way to leverage the VSC logic to apply the P25 filter when VSC sees data... either in software or (wishful thinking) in hardware.

It appears the only way I can think of to accomplish listening both P25 and Analog on the same freq is to set the second VFO to the same freq with VSC turned ON.
