How about Motorola designing the orignal countywide PD/FD/EMS channels and southern Erie County fire controls using unlicensed 900mhz for their PtP microwave on alot of their sites. Then all of a sudden they were having all sorts of interference issues etc etc. BUT it was public safety grade LoL.

I read some place the backbone was on 4.9 GHz microwave, but knew some PTP links were on 900 MHz

The core sites were licensed backbone while all the other sites were 900mhz. They have since gone to 11ghz? licensed at all sites.

Sounds like West Seneca PD made the switch yesterday (TG 513701), radios affiliating and traffic coming from subscriber units rather than just the patch like it was before. I didn't have time to see if they are still patched together with their VHF-Hi analog channel, so I don't know the status of that.

Also, two more things to keep an eye on, TG's 513702 and 513703 all had some sort of traffic (minimal), with Unit IDs that would probably be in the range of what the assigned WS's Unit IDs would be.
