Price has not yet been determined, it depends on way too many factors that we have no control of at this time.

The 780/796 remote head was a beast for sure. I had one and had a heck of a time getting it to work properly, it required disassembly of the radio, some soldering and ribbon cable installation. Once I got it working it was great! This is an entirely different beast for sure, it will be pretty much just plug and play, little or no configuration needed and no mods to the radio required at all.

Interesting, I have even considered opening a '200 up, and seeing how much trouble it would be to modify the ribbon, volume & squelch control, and the micro SD, into a detachable head. Fabricate a backing. I haven't done anything past think about it, but if a guy can pin put and install an internal GPS inside an SDS100, then a detachable display mod surely could be done on an SDS200.

Here's to hoping this will be an affordable success!

Seems odd for an end user to make postings that he expects it to have a large price tag, and we should accept / expect the same.

I say just the opposite. If the price is right, I'll buy several without issue. If it's several hundred dollars, they may as well do a short run of them, as that will count a bunch of us out.

This is true of pretty much any product, though. But you're right - price will dictate whether this is a niche product that only a few can afford or if it is popular and sells a lot. Our projects and discussions in business classes back when I was in college often centered around similar scenarios. Some companies had products fail because they wanted too much ROI from one unit vs getting even more if they lowered the price considerably but sold still considerably more.

They did? Where? Why wouldn't they also say that here, as well, then, if that's true? [If it's in this thread somewhere I missed it I guess...or forgot].

The more they work on it, to refine and add things to it, the more delayed it will be and the more expensive it will become. I expect that $399 will be the absolute lowest it can be in a minimum configuration but more probably it will be a $499 product and perhaps $599 for an all inclusive version.

They probably already work in the spirit of Paul Opitz, do most work in their own free time to keep the costs down and as a service to the scanner community, being the scanner enthusiast that they are, but a lot have to be done within the business budget at office hours, and trying to make a reasonable profit of everything they sell to be able to stay alive and generate a healthy income to its owners to make it worthwhile to carry on.

Most parts will of course come from China and with the high taxes for electronic parts it will probably be delayed even more until taxes hopefully have dropped. Trump are like a salesman at a Turkish bazar, slap a high prize tag on everything and then haggle the prize down, that at the end will be higher than in a normal store but both seller and buyer are happy that they both think they have made a great deal.

All this hard work takes time, and time are money that will be put on the final sales price. It will cost as much as a high end scanner. So instead of having SDS200 and a RH200 you could probably relocate the SDS200 to your home and have a single SDS100 in your vehicle for the same cost but with less installation hassle and you will end up with two scanners instead of just one with a remote head.

Unfortunately "for me" the SDS100 is absolute poop in the car, based on the small screen and audio. Waiting on the RH-200 not worried about cost.

And the proposed RH200 display will be pretty much the same size, so that benefits you how?

Where did you hear that the RH200 display would be pretty much the same size as the SDS100 display size?

I use the SDS200 in my truck, and the display screen on it (at approx 3" x 2") is larger than the SDS100 screen size, and very visible in a mobile environment. Early reports indicate the screen size on the RH200 remote head may even be a little larger than the SDS200 screen size:

None of the measurements are finalized, but assume the screen to be about 3.5" x 2.5" and some sort of chin for the knobs etc. This can change however so don't bank on it yet.

Post #9 are a better suggestion.

And will work on the 996/15 series as well. It should work on the 396/346/325 series before production as well as perhaps the 125. The main focus however is the desktop/mobile radios for now.

That's really neat. Guess it will have to go through the charging port?
I have had 2 of those (USB charging ports) fail on an SDS100 already. Hopefully they will hold up for others, with this plugged into it

Magnetic connectors is a god sent if you'll need to constantly connect and pull connectors from devices. It will not strain any connectors and it's so easy to just pull the magnet cable and take the device with you if you don't want to leave it in a vehicle.

I can’t seem to find one that will fit the charging port of the SDS 100 though.

Can you link to one for mini USB as the SDS100 uses? I haven't found any in my brief search but wouldn't be surprised if they exist.
