I am trying to listen to mass state police with SDRTrunk on osx. I live in essex county. I am using the radio reference connection to create the channels but can not get anything to play audio. Has anyone successfully used SDRTrunk to scan the mass state police?
Here's what I am doing
1) select the metroboston simulcast in system view because I know that I get a strong signal from 854.5625 and hit create channel configuration:

2) then i go to channels but nothing with the 854.5625 freq is listed

Even if i try to create the channel manually I cant get any audio:

After creating the channel, you have to create an Alias list and import the TGIDs before you are going to hear anything!

You also have to set the Gain and the PPM till the control channel stays locked on.

You will need 3 sdr's to cover all the frequencies on the Metro Boston Simulcast system if you are using RTL-SDR dongles.

First problem i noticed is it is not a P25 System in Eastern Mass
Correct the only P25 for Eastern Mass on ComIRS aka MSP is
a. Massport
b. Cambridge
c. 700 Overlay

the 3 rarely contains MSP Traffic (unless users are told to go to a Digital Zone) as most of the MSP is on the legacy Analog trunk (0D14) vs the P25 (D14)

854.5625 is a control channel from the Smartzone type 2 sysyem and you created it as a P25 channel.

SDRTrunk doesn't decode Motorola Type II control channels, so it can't trunk track that system. The best it can do is decode individual P25 CAI voice channels. Since the MSP system is primarily analog, SDRTrunk isn't of much value to you.

Ok great thanks for the replies, that would explain why it isn't working
