I wish Uniden nothing but the best but I seriously doubt this will replace my APX6000xe.

I daily carry both a Motorola APX 8000XE and a Motorola APX 6000 that operate on several different local Simulcast systems including the one I help maintain/manage. The SDS-100 rivals my APXs (which have both been peaked tuned on my shops Aeroflex 3920). I really do understand the skepticism and the doubting Tom's out there but time will tell and once the SDS-100 is in production I honestly believe it will be the scanner everyone has been yelling and screaming for the last few years.

If it is sitting on a channel, possibly due to static or open squelch, or you just want it to keep scanning, you have to tap the offending screen twice. Just about every other scanner on the planet has an arrow or scan or something button to get it moving, or at least a VFO knob. If this works like the HP and you need to double tap the part of the screen to move it, that is a real deal breaker.

The SDS100 is not the successor to the HomePatrol, it is the successor to the 436. Which has a scroll knob that forces scan resume if the scanner hangs on a dead carrier or whatever. Just rotate it one click in either direction to resume scanning. The direction you rotate the knob controls the order in which the scanner goes through your favorite lists. Clockwise scans forward, counterclockwise scans backward.

Your concern doesn't seem to have much merit.

The lack of a scan/resume has always been the weak link of the HP series and has been mentioned here many times.

On the x36 all you need to do is turn the knob in either direction if it gets hung on search or scan.

Twist the knob.

Any chance I could get a testing/evaluation unit to evaluate the feasibility of internal GPS installation? :D

That's very encouraging to hear. I can't wait. Maybe I will be able to hear all the KC metro areas again.

I am hoping to get some video tomorrow side by side with my APXs and share it like UPMan did with the other videos.

What about true roaming when listening to a trunked system? I hate having to constantly select the best site when on the move.

I am for this idea, as well. I don't typically use my GPS... would rather have the system programmed in and have the CC change as the threshold degrades of the current CC.

Yeah as someone mentioned seems pricey but then realized my old RS Pro-96
was $499 on sale at Radio Shack about 20 years ago...

Unless I’m missing something somewhere, there is no mention of the capacity of the battery pack. This also brings up another point, why a proprietary battery pack? Can standard AA batteries be used as well? Lastly, there are no sensitivity or audio specs. Why is that?

This is a very exciting time.

Instead of Uniden dropping it's scanner line completely (as has been often speculated here) they have come out with what appears to be a killer scanner.

I'm hopeful and optImistic that it will work on LSM. And if it does, I will for sure buy one!

That being said, I'll probably wait for reviews of its performance before I do because I already have a 436.

Two thumbs up!!

So far, in multiple environments on multiple systems, the SDS100 has performed as good or better than either Unication pagers or duty radios, sitting side by side.

I am excited about the redesigned reciever. I have a spot up in Cuyahoga County, OH I would love to test this. Previous models have a tough time with the Simulcast issue on Ohio MARCS.
