To everyone who says it's too expensive - you'll still buy it.

Nature finds a way...

No kidding. For the hobby we all love, this is the best thing since the DVB-T dongle. There will be people who miss a mortgage / rent / car payment to buy this, despite what they say :)

I couldn't figure out how many different trunking formats we now support (and/or might support in the future).
* Motorola P16
* APCO P25 Phase I
* APCO P25 Phase II
* APCO P25 One-Frequency Trunking
* EDACS Narrow
* EDACS Wide
* LTR

Ok, that is without upgrades, now add:
* MOTOTRBO Connect +
* MOTOTRBO Capacity +
* DMR Tier III
* Hytera XPT
* DMR One-Frequency Trunking
* NXDN 4800
* NXDN 9600

That is 14 and I still feel like I missed counting something.

DMR Tier 2?

Does the NXDN support include both Type C and Type D trunking?

Glad I held off on Friday buying a Unication pager after seeing his avatar change.

I did exactly the same thing, wx5uif!

I've been waiting three years now for either Uniden or Whistler to develop a scanner that can handle LSM and was about the pull the trigger on a Unication G5 last week when the avatar/YouTube excitement cranked up and I decided to hold off a little longer. Glad I did!

My BCD436HP does a pretty decent job of monitoring a nearby LSM trunked radio system in the federal frequency range (406-420 MHz) from a couple of sweet spots in my house, but it rapidly becomes unreliable as I get closer to the transmitters.

If this new radio works with LSM as well as Paul says it does, this will eliminate a lot of compromises . . .

DMR Tier 2 is, I believe, more of a regulatory designated difference from Tier 1 (allows for different frequencies and higher power). The data signalling format is the same.

So will NXDN be available for BCDx36HP?
I would not hold my breath.

Good advice, and it sounds like NXDN for the SDS100 is many months away too. I was genuinely excited about the prospect of news from Uniden today, but with so little progress on NXDN, I'm completely underwhelmed. I had been thinking of investing my hard earned cash on a second TRX1 or maybe even an AOR....nothing today has changed my mind on that plan.

I think the SDR 100 is a very nice looking scanner. And the Specs sound impressive also. Will just have to wait and see what the first purchasers say about it. Still want NXDN for x36.

Because of the way it tapers at the bottom it has the appearance of being top heavy. I guess that isn't the case, though, Paul?

It does have a rugged look to it, that's for sure.

Congrats on the new model but after the 536HP release I’m cautious about any features updates that come out after the scanner is released. I’ll wait and see once it’s been implemented before even considering purchasing one. Don’t want to repeat the hardware and software drama of the last model.

The unit(s) shown are engineering units that don't entirely reflect final design. The base will be getting somewhat deeper.

When will the nxdn option be available? How long after radio is available can we receive nxdn?

I'm not out, but I won't be an early adopter as I was with the 436HP. I'll wait to see how it develops and maybe buy one from a disappointed early buyer.

That aside, I certainly hope that Uniden doesn't decide that the x36HP scanners are EOL. NXDN would be nice, as would further development of Siren.

Like the fat kid in dodgeball I'm out on this scanner. Nothing I need in there.

Will it use the same Sentinel Software or a new version of Sentinel?

I'm currently using the x36 version of Sentinel with it (but lose all my display customizations every time I update, as Sentinel doesn't know about those, yet).

My 436 picks up everything in my area that I want to hear. I seldom use it on the road. I think I'll wait.
