It looks like a fantastic product, with fantastic performance and great upgrades. And the price does not seem insane for all it can do, particularly if it fixes the LSM issues. But...I already have a decent investment in my 436HP and 536HP's, plus the associated ProVoice and DMR upgrades. So an additional BCDx36HP upgrade for NXDN would be great on top of this. Even if it were $100, I'd go for the firmware upgrade.

Obviously I understand the business decision of keeping NXDN to the new SDS100 to make it more attractive if thats what UPMan and Uniden do. Just saying that once you put so much money into a company's product that works for you...

Good advice, and it sounds like NXDN for the SDS100 is many months away too. I was genuinely excited about the prospect of news from Uniden today, but with so little progress on NXDN, I'm completely underwhelmed. I had been thinking of investing my hard earned cash on a second TRX1 or maybe even an AOR....nothing today has changed my mind on that plan.

Yep, AOR for me as well. Today was a bit of a disappointment.

Can the LiOn battery be removed and another (charged) battery installed on the fly?

Yes. We are expecting to have an external charger, but I do not yet have cost or availability information from my supplier. Unfortunately, it will probably be after 1st ship of the scanner itself.

I'm currently using the x36 version of Sentinel with it (but lose all my display customizations every time I update, as Sentinel doesn't know about those, yet).

Does that indicate that the x36 will get a firmware upgrade to be able to change the display like the 436 in you photo?

So does anyone know if the opening at a certain online radio supply place is still open for that web developer position that became available a while back? LOL

I don't think anyone has said NXDN wouldn't be ready at the time the scanner hits the shelves. Sure, it might not be, but then again it may be. Uniden is very good about covering their butts with disclaimers and notes, but that doesn't mean it will / won't be available.

My personal speculation was purely coming from the fact that I didn't hear any NXDN in the videos and that NXDN is a separate upgrade. But, if you consider they new architecture they are using, there is absolutely no reason to believe NXDN won't be available, or that it would take a significant amount of time before it would become available. And, who knows, maybe NXDN is "working" and they just haven't showcased it because what people really wanted to see is LSM support.

It's odd, until today, I can't remember an RR post that standing out to me where people were absolutely clamoring for NXDN (it isn't nearly as popular as DMR). Now, all of the sudden, with the announcement of the SDS100, everybody in the world wants to monitor NXDN and needs it to be supported above all else. Something is fishy about that.

What about true roaming when listening to a trunked system? I hate having to constantly select the best site when on the move.

What's the point of this scanner. Not sure if Uniden Knows this but Encryption is killing the scanner hobby, and $699 and got pay to get upgrades, is wast of money. It's sad to say all this, but there's no fixing the issue at hand which is Encryption is killing the hobby.

All of us rail related guys have been clamoring for reliable NXDN in a scanner for a while. There's times I don't want to have to carry my scanner and my Icom.

Not the place for encryption talk. And most of your post is incorrect anyway.

Haters are gonna hate....
In my state encryption has limited deployment.
Let's not turn this into another encryption thread please. I don't want to have to delete posts and issue infractions.
Please keep the discussion to the SDS-100.
Thanks!

Have seen quite a few posts on NXDN mostly rail fans but their are more than a few wanting the capability.

I Don' know If I would use the word "nearly". Our whole county has gone to NXDN as with numerous others that have been mentioned in the forum. I actually see it mentioned more than DMR when it comes to public safety. That's my observation at least. Plus DMR is already an addon for Uniden.

Why do people relate NXDN to rail fans so much. There is a huge demand for NXDN. Not just rails, by far.
Our whole county is on NXDN.

That aside, I certainly hope that Uniden doesn't decide that the x36HP scanners are EOL. NXDN would be nice....

Exactly. The SDS-100 looks like an amazing radio, and the price isn't crazy. But the x36HP's work well for many of us. It'd suck to have the investment made by many into x36HP's and associated upgrades be a dead-end short of NXDN.

Fire Tone Out Change?

Any chance fire tone out will work/alert when also actually listening to the dispatch channel, rather than the radio having to be silent/muted until the proper tones are received? Almost like the monitor mode in the Minitor pagers?
