...

this you? you can prove that the addition of a waterfall "decreased reception of the systems...", right?
Wrong. the new firmware introduced by uniden through sentinel resulted in decreased reception on medium to long-range systems that I monitored. Many other users are having the same issue as documented on these posts.... These were the firmware upgrades for the waterfall option.

And you upgraded to the newest fix that works for everyone else?
Kind of why I waited till just the other day to do the updates. I read some of the issues on the older one, but this new one is clearer on the P25 stuff than the version I had before. Analog seems OK, but I have most of it off right now. I'll mess with that this weekend.

I am experiencing very clear p25 communications with close local full strength systems with the newest upgrade. However, I can no longer monitor some medium strength to weaker systems that were consistently monitorable before.
I've had no issues. Everything just seems clearer. Heck, I can get the Ft Myers airport which is 30 miles away just like I could before the update. Maybe it's the Omni X antenna up 20' outside.

Not sure which filter you are using, but I used to use Wide-Invert. Now NORM has the best for weak signals.
(Just my findings)

I have had to adjust filters on several system to get my reception/decoding back to where it was before. This is on 700/800mhz p25 P1 and P2 systems. Not a complaint either, just my observation.

Yeah me too. Even more interesting to me is the fact that I have two SDS200s sitting next to each other, connected to the same antenna through a Stridsberg multicoupler. One one I switched from Wide Normal to Wide Invert and saw much-decreased D-Error rates and excellent signal. On the other one? If I switch to Wide Invert it won't even lock onto the control channel.

Again, not complaining, just observing.

I ran some tests before I updated my 200 on the Monroe/Ontario West site and found that my 200 was completely deaf with the filters off.
I tried after the update and it works just fine, (I have always left them set at Normal). I have only updated one of my 100's and see no difference between the two as far as the filters.
Error rates appear to have improved slightly and the RSSI values were adjusted down a lot initially and appear to have been revised slightly after the second update. FYI my 436 will barely lock onto the control channel at times and sometimes takes 5-10 minutes to figure it out.

OK, loaded the local airport and state forestry (analog) a little while ago, absolutely fine.

Interesting. That's also the site I am seeing the difference with. Wide Invert works great on one and not at all on the other (no CC lock).

If I switch to the Monroe East site, Wide Invert works on both. Could very well be different simulcast conditions (I am approximately equidistant to three towers for West but only close to one for East) OR ... could be 800MHz versus 700MHz.

If it was or is Simulcast, you wouldn't be able to tell which tower was which. All the towers would be on the same frequency.

I'm not sure what your point is. Yes, it's simulcast. Yes, I understand what that means. Yes, I've looked at the maps and know where the towers are. As I said, for one site I'm pretty much in the middle of three towers while I'm only close to one tower on the other site.

The point is on a Simulcast system you would NOT be able to select a specific tower as they are all broadcasting on the same frequency.
