If I bought one, I'd have to add the $85 for DMR and $85 for NXDN. All county sheriffs around me and ours use either DMR or NXDN. That means I am going to have to pass for now.

It’s less then $85 for each if you go through uniden it’s about $60 each
These resellers charge you an xtra $20 to input the code in that takes about 1 minute to do

Safe to say that the 536 and the sds200 are the same chassis width????
Yes. DIN is a standard size in width and height. 536 is a DIN radio, SDS200 is a 1.5DIN radio which in industry terms means it is the same width as a DIN radio but one and a half times as high.

Not a fan of the front ethernet port either, but "if" I end up getting a 200 I will use a right angle "slim" ethernet cable (widely available) routed under the unit mounted in the desk rack pictured below. Not ideal, but as close to neat & clean as you can get for a desk-based shack IMO.

Nice look with 16 desktop scanners I am looking into the 19 inch rack mount setup with a 2200 watt UPS.

The only issue is it would block the MicroUsb if you need to use it.

Mine is currently below my 536 - I mount them together using a couple pieces of strip I drilled , had to make new ones to fit the 200 as it was also higher than the 997 I had there.

Page 15 of the user manual says "If the scanner loses power (as when you turn off your car’s ignition with the scanners power switch
on), it can corrupt the microSD card. To ensure that does not happen, turn off the scanner before
turning the car’s ignition off. ".

What an utter fail. Folks have been screaming for ignition sense since the 536 came out and ...nothing. It isn't rocket science. At the very least, allow firmware to control the orange wire via a menu setting. Let the user choose between display dim and ignition sense control would be a great meet in the middle type of thing.

(sigh)

Come on Uniden, this is an exciting and great looking unit that has much potential. It's marketed as a mobile scanner, at least let it work like most real mobile radios do.

The network port on the front is so I can hook the scanner up on my network CONTROL, LOG TRAFFIC, and RECORD 24 7 with PROSCAN.
The RJ11 on the rear is to connect to the Uniden GPS receiver that works great when using the GPS to control the scanner while driving down the road.
What is the main purpose of the front Ethernet port?

Please don’t burn me for this question . I’m on the fence about the sds200 . Not because of the design . But because I own the sds100. Somone wanna shed light on those if any like me that think they want the sds200 but have the sds100 . What’s the advantages of having the sds200 ? Keep price in mind if you can when answering this question . I personally love the looks of it but if my sds100 is going to perform the same . Why buy the sds200?

Thanks. Operation is pretty much the same as the x36HP, with a few added or different functions. The learning curve should be pretty sharp.

For those that missed it I posted the link to the SDS200 User Manual last night.

I’m in the same boat. I asked the same questions and the response is this radio is more for putting it in one place like as a base or mounted in a car. It does have the benefit of connecting to a network etc but for actual radio purposes and receiving it doesn’t do anything extra. It does have a bigger screen. For me I take my radio in and out of the car and also use it as a base at home with a nice stand. I chose to pass for the time being
