Thanks - wonder if it will bend tight enough to go around the side? I wish listed for later anyway.

So, Im pretty in love with this and share the same concerns as everyone else as far as loss of wifi and port locations. I was hoping the next iteration of crazy awesome uniden scanner would have expanded wifi that could be used to program since I have a 536 in my car and in my truck.

My biggest concern though is, I the whole point in these cool new "software" defined scanners was that instead of buying new scanners all the time, they were going to offer firmware releases to give us new features on what we have. I haven't seen ANY of that yet, beyond buying upgrades for digital modes. Doesn't mean that I don't want to or wont buy three of these darn things, but come on Uniden cut me a break and start giving us some upgraded features for what we have already bought from you....

Being that small I would suspect it would be pretty flexible. Could probably use a twist tie or something similar to hold it to the mounting bracket knob on the right side, too, which would help hold it in place.

What upgraded features are you desiring? It's one thing to say "where are they?", it's another to detail what the "they" are.

Laptop PC's suitable for programming can be had for pennies on the dollar these days on Ebay. Add a USB cable and you can solve your need to program your 536 in your vehicles.

Not all changes can be implemented via firmware upgrades. Some would actually require hardware modifications/additions. Even if they could be done it would be very expensive. When we bought our scanners we bought them based on what they were at the time, Uniden never implied anything different. Uniden employees don't work for free.

"if" I end up getting a 200 I will use a right angle "slim" ethernet cable (widely available) routed under the unit mounted in the desk rack pictured below.

The reason it can be made thin are that it doesn't use twisted pair and are unshielded. Twisted pair works as a balanced pair that do not emit high levels of RF interference, the shield around pairs and/or around the whole cable are also to keep interferencies to escape from the signalling. It also works the other way, to protect the network signalling from interferencies from the outside. I have huge radio interferencies from normal cat5 cables and need foil shielded cables, STP, and prefere the ones where each pair are individually shielded.

I suspect so. For the SDS100, the 436HP/536HP, and the HomePatrol series (HP-1/HP-2) the largest size card that Uniden supports is 32gb, but I have seen comments from users that have cards up to 64gb, and are not having any issues.

There have been reports from x36 users that when the SD card fills up with recordings the buttons start to act slow (it happens to me even with moderatly small number of recordings) and it even restarts the scanner when some sort of watchdog aren't resetted in time due to the CPU are busy doing other things when the SD card fills up. It is common practice to copy&paste code from one generation to the next and only change the code to adapt to new hardware. Lets hope that the SD card bug have been solved.

... I personally love the looks of it but if my sds100 is going to perform the same . Why buy the sds200?

The SDS200 are not using a satellite box direct conversion receiver chip they use in the SDS100. It's using a heterodyne receiver like the one in BCD536HP which would guarantee a problem free VHF and UHF reception. The SDS100 where a test to see if a complete receiver in a chip could be used that had the same performance as most SDR USB sticks. And as with a USB stick you get different results depending of users location and unique listening enviroment. I do not expect Uniden to make that mistake again in a $500 scanner.
