Not likely. The analog cellular phone system used in the US and many other parts of the world was known as AMPS. As of Feburary 2008, cellular phone carriers in the US were no longer required by the FCC to support AMPS. Verizon and AT&T, the two largest AMPS networks in the US, no longer support it.

Ah yes, the year I left at&t because they wanted to charge me an extra $5 per line for keeping my service on that network...along came Android and a new provider.
