You would think by now you would have learned not to put a date or time on anything. If you don't announce something by noon on Thursday, the members will be calling for a lynching.

I feel like I'll be sick on Thursday, right around noon. So sorry, someone else will need to deal with all the out of control posts.

Does anybody out have some good medication for Upman so we can make sure he feels better by Thursday morning???

It would be in our best interest so this curtain can finally fall.

That was my first thought too, but there is some wiggle room with this. A particular time zone was never mentioned. I guess we'll see if the new forums can handle the traffic.

I think Uniden and Upman already have a timeline laid out and all of the wording has been put down on paper and it would be a cut and paste into RR on Thursday or somewhere around this week. It's all about timing and when they feel its the best time to release information.

I bet for sure that there is already members on this site that have these radios and are kept to silence right now. They probably been testing them for a couple of months now including Butel dude while he is testing is home brew ARC Software.

One thing I don't understand (asking seriously) is why is there still a requirement to block the cell range? Are there still analog cell phones in use in the USA?

Because it is very difficult to undo a federal law once passed and there is no incentive for the radio companies to lobby to have it reversed.

I bet that there is still some analog towers still being used. Back in the old days you could listen to cell phone conversations.

I hoping the design is more like the BCD536 not the HP2. Maybe the SDS500 is the new HP3. Only Paul and Uniden no about it.. Thursday is gong to be the big announcement I hope.....

Not likely. The analog cellular phone system used in the US and many other parts of the world was known as AMPS. As of Feburary 2008, cellular phone carriers in the US were no longer required by the FCC to support AMPS. Verizon and AT&T, the two largest AMPS networks in the US, no longer support it.

That said, the US law banning scanners with cell phone frequency coverage is still on the books and the FCC still will not allow a scanner with cell phone frequency coverage to be Part 15 certified for sale in the US.

Note that the suite is by appt only, and appts are with distributors/retailers/suppliers, etc. No general public access. I plan to take the embargo off of the SDS200 details Thursday morning. How early Thursday depends on how late Wednesday ends up being (or how bad this so far mild upper respiratory bug does or does not become).

That was what UPMan had posted yesterday.

Is there a live feed to this?
