Right and home networks don't need to start with 192.168 either. I guess I am missing your point.
They should be a nonroutable address for security purposes. CIDR fits the bill nicely, that's why it's the default for consumer devices.

So I did some more tests tonight on the ProScan software and noticed that un-installing and installing the software was not getting the sound to loop back to hear out of my speakers on my computer.

I went into the Windows 10 Firewall and disabled for testing and it started working. So its a firewall issue on this issue. I still have not figured out why I am not getting sound to the the outside world yet remotely.

This is what I had to do. Remove the ProScan activation on the pc. Uninstall ProScan with revo uninstaller it will want you to scan for remnants of ProScan I clicked advanced and then scan and then deleted everything it found.Restarted the computer and reinstalled ProScan. After reactivation on the PC set everything back up and hit start on the RSOIP and got the prompt below clicked allow and had audio. Again I do not know if this will solve everyone's problem but it did mine.

This was the issue with the audio not being broadcasted remotely to the outside world. Its working now. I just tested it with using the Proscan client on a laptop using a hotspot off my iphone via cellular and have zero issues now.

If yours is the Orange County California on the ProScan client it sounds great.

CIDR has nothing specifically to do with RFC1918 addresses. It is about not having to stay within the subnet classes, such as using a /30 on point-to-point links. Older routers could not do CIDR, and you'd see point-to-point links, including Internet links, with a /24. For companies and ISPs using public IPs on these links, it was a huge waste of IP addresses. When routers finally supporter CIDR, they could redo the addressing and use IP addresses more effectively. This helped slow the quick exhaustion of public IPs.

RFC1918 addresses are routable, but not on the public Internet. With the advent of IPv6, now everyone can use publicly routed addresses across their home. My ISP has been doing this for years, so people must be careful to firewall it properly.

Looks like I was confusing standards CIDR with RFC 1918. The use of network 192.168.x.x is still good consumer security practice and that's what I was trying to point out.

At my wits end with this thing. I tried connecting my PC and the scanner to a switch and manually configuring IP address for both, PC at 192.168.1.1 and Scanner at 192.168.1.2. I did this to rule out any issue with my router and DHCP. I totally disabled Windows Firewall. Still, Proscan cannot connect for audio. I also have uninstalled Proscan, cleaned up with Revo Uninstaller, and re-installed.

Sometimes you have to cycle the scanner power to get audio, but you probably tried that already.

Don't give up on this ProScan software. Take a day or two away from it and re-group. Sometimes letting it marinate in your brain you will get it to work. Take your time. I lost hope for a couple of days and then went back to the drawing board and got it to work.

Have you tried using anything else for audio? At least confirm it's not a SDS issue.

I have two SDS200 scanners. Won't work on either and both get audio from internal speaker and external speaker

What won't work? Proscan audio? VLM audio? Lan control?

Works fine for me on ANY network audio I've tried including Siren.

Your issues are either a Windows 10 Firewall issue or its a Router Port forwarding issue. May also be a Firewall issue on your router.

First get your ProScan software to work on your computer to where you can see your scanner radio scanning in the software on your computer monitor. Once you have this done then you want to start narrowing down where the audio issue is.

Also, what made my radio work to the outside world was I went into the router and my port forwarding is TCP and UDP

Now I might have to close more down as I go and test but what made it work for me was the external port was 554 and internal port was 554

Also, I created another rule for 5000 internal and external port is 5000

Also, on the Firewall of my router I created a rule to allow 5000 and 8080. It works for me. Now I will have to do more testing to maybe lock some stuff down

Have you forwarded ports per the tutorials and verified them with canyouseeme.org? You may need to add a firewall exception. This will work you just need to find where you made a mistake. This is human error almost certainly.

What I tend to do is when I get to the point where I get frustrated I take a few steps and walk away from whatever I am doing and go on with my day or night. Then my brain has a chance to think about it and re-trace my tracks and then go back to what is the challenge and over time things will workout.

We need to start over. First this problem has nothing to do with the Router Port Forwarding. If you changed anything in the Router config., change it back. The Router Port Forwarding comes into play later when you want the RSOIP or Web Server to be seen from the outside.

Can you verify your symptoms are the same when you first reported which are:
1. ProScan does communicate with the LAN data indicated by the virtual display showing the scanner display. YES or NO?
2. ProScan does not communicate with the LAN audio indicated by the TCP Not Connected and UDP Not Connected messages. . YES or NO?

To troubleshooting #2 above, Do the following, one step at a time in order..

1. Insure no other apps such as VLC are connected to the SDS200 LAN audio. Retest the audio.
2. For a test, disable and Internet Security program or add an exemption for ProScan. Retest the audio.
3. Reboot the router. Retest the audio.
4. Reboot the computer. Retest the audio.
5. Power cycle the scanner. Retest the audio.

6a. In the scanner menu, go to the Settings -> LAN Settings -> Set IP Assignment then change the Auto or Manual to Disable.
6b. Exit the menu and let the scanner restart.
6c. Go into the menu Set IP Assignment again and change it back to what it was before. Either Auto or Manual.
6d. Exit the menu and let the scanner restart.
6e. Retest the audio.

Please provide feedback if it works or doesn't work.

I had the same issue with proscan not receiving the scanners audio using the lan port. I fixed it my manually changing the scanners ip address to another number and then i rebooted the scanner. Then after you restart the scanner change the scanner back to automatically choose the ip address and it starting working and I havn't had a problem since
