Mike,

Using Pro-96 monitoring software on the Berkeley and Jefferson County sites since December 10, 2021 I've found the following:

1) I've not logged an encrypted transmission on TG1107. It only carries announcements from dispatcher, no radio traffic between County units and dispatcher. There were a few occasions where I recorded state police units communicating to the Berkeley dispatchers, but that seems to have tapered off since the Holidays have passed.
2) ALL communications on TG1141 are encrypted. No logs indicate since 12/10/2021 that an in-the-clear transmission has occurred.
3) County Law enforcement traffic is also occurring on TG1106 and TG1108 which appears 100% encrypted all of the time. Their use is unknown so far.
4) I cannot confirm TG's 1117, 1143, 1141 are full-time encryption. It appears so at this time, but I have no concrete logs to prove it. There's just not enough traffic on them.
5) Martinsburg PD traffic is not encrypted so far. TG1109.
6) All Berkeley County Fire Private Company channels are encrypted all of the time for several months now.

Thanks, Andy. That is helpful. Maybe you would want to work that SIRN submission. I say that because you also have additional info about the Berkeley Private FD channels being encrypted and could update those at the same time. Let me know.

Anyone know of a talkgroup for the New River Gorge National Park Service? I've noticed most of their vehicles have uhf antennas now instead of vhf for their old system. I've tried running wildcard on my scanner but no luck.

Within the past week or so, something has happened with Wetzel County and the SIRN because there is 0 radio traffic from any Wetzel county unit coming through the Ohio Co site...... Prior to this very notable absence of radio traffic, "Wetzel 911" TG-2937 had a flurry of regular activity- mostly EMS-dispatcher operations; but occasionally from fire and sheriff who would utilize the "statewide" radio channel on as needed basis.... It seemed that much, if not all of the Wetzel SIRN communications were carried on the Ohio County site, including calls in the southern dip of the county.

Could Wileyville site have possibly come online already or what.? I don't see any new site neighbors showing for OC simulcast so I'm a bit skeptical about that having happened considering that Catherine's, Sistersville, and Sand Springs are perennial neighbors of Ohio Co... I dont know the freqs to check for possible Wileyville CC signal...

I do still see a few Wetzel RID affiliations on 2937- but only from Hundred's fire apparatus, whereas before, there would usually be a couple dozen or more RIDs affiliated- and 24 hours would never pass without hearing them active on their TG... I'd have to say there is no way the Wetzel units just abruptly stopped using the statewide radio altogether, but when it comes to the OC site, there has not been any channel grants issued to any Wetzel RID or any Wetzel TG in several days so If they are still using SIRN, that traffic is going somewhere.

One last thing of interest I noticed was earlier today when the "Industry 1" radio participants conducted their weekly 11AM WED test on TG 2128, Wetzel county dispatch now shows up as RID 9152, whereas previously, Wetzel 911 dispatch would always show up as RID 260001.

Anyone in RR land maybe know something about this; or is there is anyone south of the Mason-Dixon line on here who used to hear all the Wetzel traffic on TG2937 that can say whether there is any activity on TG 2937 or if any of the standard issue Wetzel County 26xx talkgroups have come to life.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that they started using there dedicated Talkgroups in Wetzel County. They weren’t supposed to be using the 911 talkgroup for every day operation anyhow, but some how got a way with it for a while. Id say being around that area they’d have to be associated with St. Joes and Sistersville sites.

I have been getting traffic on 2601, 2605, and 2607 which I'm going to assume are Wetzel Fire, EMS, and Sheriff respectively. I'm hearing them off the Mannington and Fairview towers. I've had 209 hits on 2601, 62 hits on 2605, and only 16 hits on 2607 since 2/12. I have also noticed that the 911 channel for Wetzel county has gone silent.

Those are great assumptions, but did you listen to the traffic and confirm that it is police/fire/ems? If so, please submit it to the database so that we can get them added in there for people to listen to.

Looking for a little guidance on my DSD running Ohio County Simulcast on SIRN. I seem to be having some reception issues, im about a couple miles from the West liberty tower so in good range with antenna. Im getting very garbled transmission off any other tower other then Ohio County towers, when someone is talking up north it’s terrible receptions and Marshall county is terrible reception. Is there something I can do to get better simulcast signal or reception. I can definitely tell a difference when recieving traffic from a radio connected to Ohio County vs a radio connected to Weirton.

Sometimes less antenna is better than gain and external antenna.

What are you using for an antenna? Any other accessories like a preamp? You might just be too far from those sites, compare the signal strengths by looking at the signal in FMP and turn up the gain in FMP when trying to get those far away sites. I'm in Wintersville and can't hear the Weirton site but can hear OC and the Beaver sites.
