Does anyone have any notes for SC21 talkgroups 6461, 6462, 6463 and/or 6465? All four have seen affiliations and radio checks by RIDs in the 4944xx range (agency/user not identified in the Radio Reference SC21 wiki). RID 494430 self-IDd as "Lincoln Charles 112" during a radio test on TG 6463 (2/1/24). Does that unit identifier sound familiar to anyone?

FWIW, RID 494430 was logged by Broadcastify keying up (no voice) on ISP Troop 3 "A" (TG 9005) on February 22nd.

I have nothing on those talkgroups. You and MikeyC check your email.

Has anyone confirmed the user of talkgroup 6785 in Peoria County? It isn't currently listed in the Radio Reference SC21 database. Appears to be a public works type agency, possibly the Logan, Trivoli or Limestone Township road district. Recent traffic was related to tree trimming operations and going back to Smithville. There is an unincorporated place called Smithville in the middle of Logan Township, and there is a Smithville Road that exists in all three of the above-mentioned townships.

Bartlett FPD, Hanover Park FD and Hanover Township Emergency Services have switched over from Fire West (TG 2073) to Fire North (TG 2071) in part of a 30 day temporary movement to test operations and staffing.

I've been hearing DeKalb County (LE) units sporadically over the last couple of days, mostly using TG-30332 (IL Incident A1). Just now I copied "Radio check from NIU on Incident 3" (30334), again "...on Incident2" (30333) then finally "...on Incident1" (30332). I hear radio checks all the time, but does the Law Dispatch traffic on Incident A1 sound like they are getting ready to transition onto that TG? I remember hearing about Brookfield PD testing and then using one of the ITTF TGs right before they switched to their current (encrypted) TG a couple years ago.

I am located in Brookfield, and get my best decodes from the DuPage South Simulcast site FWIW. Is it unusual to receive DeKalb-area traffic this far east?

Incident 1 is a statewide talk group so it's not unusual to be hearing it. They will be using Incident 1 for a funeral procession of a fallen deputy taking place at NIU Convocation center tommorow (4/4) at 1500. Sounds like it'll be patched to DCSO Event 1 since they don't have Starcom access

The new Toulon site in Stark County may be ready for users this week. It is site number 66 in Zone 2. The frequencies are licensed to the Peoria Stark ETSB.

Thought I'd throw the particulars for this new site out there so, once it's on the air, someone might be able to confirm the frequencies (including control channel(s)) and NAC. After that information is confirmed and submitted, the site can be added to the Radio Reference database.

WRZC943 - 851.6125, 852.0375, 853.0375, 853.2875, 853.7125

The list of neighbor sites would be a bonus.

This is more on that TG58223 I am hearing on the local SARA system. Wednesday I heard a rollcall of County EMA, Public Health and some Hospitals in the Northwest of Illinois. Mainly from Rockford to Warren county in this talkgroup so what could it's parallel TG on Starcom21 be? Not sure if there are more than one TG that is patched to SARA or it's more of switchable.

STARCOM21 regional radio nets are held on the first Tuesday of each month starting at 10:30am. They use the regional talkgroups shown under the Illinois Statewide Interoperability Template (SWIT) category on the RR SC21 database page.

On Wednesday 4/2, Jo Daviess County (RID 409461) was the net control station for Region 2 (NW Illinois) on TG 30304. This net includes agencies in Bureau, Carroll, Henderson, Henry, Jo Daviess, Knox, Lee, Marshall, Mercer, Ogle, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Stephenson, Warren and Winnebago Counties. Many agencies were called, only a relative few (including National Weather Service Quad Cities) responded. My guess is that this is what you heard.

Caught a pursuit in Troop 5 today (up Hwy 50 from Kankakee, ending in Peotone after a successful PIT maneuver), the dispatcher wanted everyone to switch to "Priority" and units apologizing a couple of times for "being on Priority" when they meant traffic for Troop 5 Primary. Troop 2 still calls it "ISPERN" and I've heard Troop 3 call it "ISPERN" as well. So what is it "officially"? ISPERN or Priority :)

  • 177004 TG 34091 (T111, 9/22)
  • 177005 TGs 2002 (Tollway Main't North), 30331 (Pub Health Statewide) and 30306 (T101, 1/24)
  • 177006 TG 2002 (Tollway Main't N, T149 11/23) and 2007 (Tollway Main't Roadwide), T101 12/23)

I've heard a good number of SC21 transmissions this week related to preparations being made for the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th. That might be a good day to listen if you're able. I imagine that there will be a number of talkgroups and RIDs active for this event that we don't normally hear all that often. Might even be able to identify some of the mystery TG and RIDs listed in the Radio Reference SC21 wiki.

Yes, today was the first time I heard Troop 5 call it ”PRIORITY“
I stopped and talk to a Troop 5 trooper the other day. He had a new Ford Explorer with ghost graphics and a push bar. He seemed quite happy to finally have a push bar.

"ISPERN" remains the VHF highband channel 155.475. "Priority" is the STARCOM equivalent of ISPERN, except that there is a unique Priority talkgroup for each Troop. The Pontiac dispatch center is very good at patching ISPERN to STARCOM when a broadcast is put out so users on either platform get the information.

I think the push bar was put to good use on the pursuit :) They were talking about damage to ISP vehicles after the pursuit and said a couple of times that the only damage to ISP vehicles was "to the push bar".

I've been told by a reliable source that local law enforcement had to rent SC21 radios to stay in direct contact with troopers. I'm in Lawrence County and we are in the middle of the path of totality for the eclipse.

Usually, they would be passed out by the state agency ILEAS EMA IEMA DHS from my understanding I could be wrong.

I know that numerous suburban agencies in Troop 3 will call it Priority and others will say ISPERN. Either one, they will be on the same talkgroup and frequency together. As they both are able to patch into each other for P25 digital and VHF analog. In ISP terms they will officially say ISPERN all the time.
