Gobeit and Johnlotrean.. Our area is around 3.5 miles away from1255 Albrecht tower. Try pointing your antenna that way. It's the closest one to us.
JohnLoTrean .. When you are at Massillon Walmart, you say you can hear them. You are very close to the Albrecht tower. (map .. Tower to Walmart) .. On the map at the top left side is where we are.
Thank you - I’m willing to try anything at this point! Will other towers be added at some point do you think?

I believe the signal within the county is quite good. What you folks are experiencing, along with my own 106 is simply distortion. It's a different type of digital that what we had before. What's happening is the towers are broadcasting the same traffic at the same time and arriving at the radio just milliseconds apart. The public safety radios are tuned to this and work perfectly fine. But the scanners don't do so well when it comes to the distortion.

Until now... just before Christmas I purchased a Uniden SDS100 and I am completely blown away. In fact, it has a built in recorder and I've uploaded some of my recordings on my Youtube channel. You'll be quite surprised how well it sounds. Some of the recordings are from home in Louisville, some at work and one even while driving around.

Take a look: Jon S

So your mileage will vary when it comes to performance. In certain spots in the house my 106 does just fine. But move it over one foot then it's completely garbled. Or if I take it out and drive around it's completely garbled. Until I'm stationary and just so happen to be in a good spot. Or, pretty much within site of a tower. But just as Vol mentioned, I've had some luck with using a small antenna such as a paperclip cut in half to reduce the multipath distortion.

I would think if you’re inside the red circle [emoji837] you shouldn’t have a problem receiving, unless you’re living underground

Not true. Its a simulcast system. Meaning that you could be smack dab in the middle of the red circlce and have big problems receiving the system.

Lucky you. You should be buying a lottery ticket.

Remember, Frank is the guy who has the stellar setup that allows him to monitor trunked systems virtually statewide. Radio monitoring has no bounds for him. His decodes are always 100% because he has such an awesome setup :)

Anybody listening to MARCS TG 45159 traffic all morning? I believe this STARK MSD. Can I get some confirmation from somebody in Stark who would know for sure?

Butt hurt? That's a new one to me. Nah, I'm just envious of your most spectacular setup. We all wish we could be so fortunate.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to correct simulcast distortion.
With the newer radios it’s nonexistent.
If you want to brag then step up get yourself a Yagi 40 feet up and get back to me.
Now we all must walk on eggshells because mtindor might get in a jealous rage.

Since Stark County has moved to the MARCS system my scanner just isn’t cutting it. I has been recommended for me to purchase a Uniden SDS200 - who has one? Do you like it? Are you able to get Massillon, Jackson, etc on it? Is it clear? Before I shell out that kind of money I want to make sure it is the right scanner for me. Is it easy to program (I have a homepatrol 2 and use the sentinel software download now).

I have one. Yes, it works. I get everything in Stark County crystal clear. As for ease of programming, the software makes it a breeze. I would not attempt to program manually.

You program the department talk groups you wish to hear and that is all that you will hear

Isn’t cutting it paints a broad brush on the issue.
