Never had issues. Yes, I realize that. Grecomm Scanner works.

Site 112 is active per Pro96com when mapping Site 106.

859.4375 Mhz

Tower appears to be near a fire station on E Warm Springs. I can just barely receive the CC signal from my location near the mall.

ULS License - PubSafty/SpecEmer/PubSaftyNtlPlan,806-817/851-862MHz,Trunked License - WQVT470 - ADA, COUNTY OF
Interesting. The license shows this as part of the Special Emergency Public Safety Plan with a low transmit power(25 watts). Since Pro96Com linked this site with ICAWIN, it's probably tied in as an emergency transmitter available for use by ICAWIN radios, but not for normal use. I'm assuming you didn't hear any actual traffic from this site. Also, Pro96Com seems to put a 1 before the site numbers which actually would be 012 and 006.

Yeah I tend to use the Uniden method when it comes to sites. ;)

From the mall end I can just barely hear the signal and it did register on the scanner once but haven't heard any traffic as yet. I am going to swing by the airport on the way home and see if I can get a sniff. Will post again shortly.

Managed to catch a sniff of 112 but just barely... very strange signal, even by the airport. Will post details when I get home.

Which is your goto scanner of choice for monitoring P25?

Here's the Pro9com output if you want to add it to the DB:

Some of you guys may have noticed that some traffic on the Shaffer site is not broadcast on the Ada Simulcast site. For some reason i have trouble getting a very good signal from my location and im wondering if theres much i can do to remedy that problem.

It seems like Valley all call gets more traffic on shaffer then i end up getting via the ada simulcast site. Anyone else out there in Boise have trouble with signal from Shaffer?

The Shafer Butte Site (Site 006 in the DB) is part of the Canyon County System and not part of the Ada simulcast system, so Site 006 and Ada Simulcast(site 003 in the DB) won't necessarily carry the same traffic.

Ada simucast (site 003) actually consists of multiple transmitters. There is a transmitter on Shafer Butte that is part of the Ada simulcast system, but transmits on different frequencies than the Shafer Canyon County transmitter (Site 006).

Many scanners have trouble decoding simulcast systems very well, due to the fact that multiple transmitters are transmitting on the same frequency at the same time. A scanner may have trouble locking onto the strongest signal from multiple simulcasting transmitters, and thus there may be reception problems depending on your location and antenna orientation. The digital scanner reception problems on the Ada simulcast system have been around for quite a while.

Valley all call would be transmitted over Shafer (site 006) even if the traffic is originating in Canyon County.

I hope what i said was clear.

What talkgroups/agencies can you pick up from that site?

Canyon County Encryption

Was wondering what my options are regarding the fact ALL traffic (including Dispatch) in Canyon County are encrypted. A few years back they used the excuse its because of gang activity, however it doesnt seem to have helped them. In fact it keeps residents from knowing whats going on, also it keeps the public from being able to step in and help, say the need ever arised. It creates that grey area when you see cop cars/hear sirens but cant figure out whats going on in your neighborhood. I know in some areas they have gotten encryption overturned, and some agencies are "reopening" their comms into the clear. How would a concerned citizen go about getting something changed on this? How have these other people/towns been successful at such a thing? Or is this just a lost cause?

Probally a lost cause

As any PS radio hobbyist knows today in our ever changing word encryption is here to stay.

I am sure the CC sheriff and associated CC PD Chiefs have their reasons for encryption weither it be gang activity or general crime.

One of several reasons for encryption was not to reduce gang activity but eliminate the monitoring of PD comms for eluding and tracking PD movements.

Too bad CC does not take the position of BPD and ACSO on at least having one channel unencrypted. I would guess the news media has: "been there done that" as far as trying to get them to use at least one clear channel with no avail.

LE traffic or all traffic including fire and EMS?

Current Canyon County TGs listed as unencrypted in the database:
14007 36b7 D CanyonFirOps Fire Ops
14300 37dc D CanyonEMS EMS Ops EMS-Talk
14400 3840 D CanyonFire 1 County Fire Dispatch Fire Dispatch
14401 3841 D CanyonFirOps County Fire Ops Fire-Tac
14402 3842 D MelbaFireDsp Melba Fire Dispatch Fire Dispatch
14403 3843 D NampaFirDsp Nampa Fire Dispatch Fire Dispatch
14406 3846 D Nampa EMS Nampa EMS Dispatch EMS Dispatch
14408 3848 D NampaFirOps Nampa Fire Ops Fire-Tac
14617 3919 D C of I Sec College of Idaho Security Security

LE has been encrypted in Canyon County since they moved from UHF to 700. Barring a change in sheriff (+highly+ unlikely this year), I find it highly unlikely a change in policy with take place.

Simulcast and scanners seems to be an annoyance worldwide...

Anyone using the non-affiliate scanning method to monitor this system?
