Hi Mateo,

According to another monitor, this was TECATE 10 (he spelled it TACATE 10 but I'm pretty sure it's TECATE as it has been for this unit in the past), T-6A 05-3798/XL from the 84th FTS/47th FTW, and VACKA/VOCKA (my bet is on VACA) 12, T-6A 97-3017/XL 85th FTS/47th FTW.
Thanks for this. I had a feeling they were Laughlin T-6s, but a tiny airplane is tough enough to pick out under ideal conditions, let alone while driving at 65MPH at dusk and not knowing exactly where to look! My guess at XL T-6s was from the Udvar-Hazy fly-in back in June, when I tied-up the T-6s under callsign TACO (or PACO) - the Mexican theme fits for a base within sight of our southern neighbours!

The missing tail number was 99-0064. They came in yesterday using their unit callsign - HIRE - and at least three of the four went out this morning in the 0900 hour under the THUG mission callsign...
THUG 01 98-0055
THUG 02 99-0063
THUG 03 99-0064

Dover's newest C-17A, tail 07-7169 flew this morning in the 0900 hour as RIDER 75. He returned just after 1300.

It appears the remainder of the 555th FS F-16s left Wright-Patterson this morning. I couldn't hear the fighters (too far north) but two tankers went out to meet them from this general area...BOBBY 41 (KC-10A, 86-0036, 305th AMW McGuire) in the 0700 hour followed by BOBBY 44 (KC-135R, 59-1460, 171st ARW PA-ANG Pittsburgh.) In the 0900 hour, the KC-135 returned to Pittsburth and, apparently, the KC-10 hooked up to the fighters (callsign JEST) and towed them across the Atlantic.
This KC-10 (86-0036) is the same tanker Jordan mentioned that brought them in from the Pacific three days ago.

Surprisingly readable this far North. No doubt Southbound from overseas thru this area.

I didn't hear REACH 306 but did have a REACH 386 (C-17A, 02-1100, 437th AW Charleston) about that same time. Might have been a different aircraft.
02-1100 did come in from Europe though. The Brits heard him in the 1000Z hour.

Had two E-6B types depart Patuxent today. One was just a few minutes ago at 1520. It was 162784 from VQ-3. He's heading due west at FL200. The earlier one left Pax at 1250 - 163918 from VQ-4. He also got on a 270 degree track and flew out of range.

At 1535, both THUG 02 and 03 appear to be heading back into McGuire. 99-0063 and 99-0064 from McChord.
One of their squadron mates is also in the area as REACH 9061 (99-0061).

A German Air Force C-160D, tail 50+96, into the area at 1544. About four hours ago he was flying over Cape Cod. No idea where he went in the meantime.
Exactly 3 hours earlier at 1244 there was a Canadian Air Force CC-144, tail 144615, from 412 Squadron in the area.

1553: BULLY flight of DC-ANG F-16s airborne from Andrews...TRACON 348.725 for climbout...to ZDC-Calvert continuing climb to FL 200...281.4....interflight freq 139.15
Second flight of DC-ANG F-16s on interflight freq 143.6...callsign WILD
1604: BULLY flight handed to ZDC-Franklin 290.425 as they head off to one of the ranges to the south apparently.
1730: WILD flight on the way home...with TRACON 270.275, with SENATE SOF 139.9 and on interflight 143.6...to ADW Tower on 349.0 at 1732...WILD 1 on the ground at 1737, WILD 2 at 1740.

1744: JEDI 31 (single ship F-22A from Langley) checking out of W-386 with Giant Killer to RTB. Reports 20 miles east of HEELS. Says he'll follow the CAJUN 11 flight (also Langley F-22As)...249.8

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. 162 years old today.

At 1606, I've got a NASA Airbus Super Guppy - N941NA - in the area. It's an amazing bird that looks like it shouldn't be able to fly. (Mark checked FlightAware which shows it going into Philadelphia.)

Navy Pilot OK After Atlantic Crash

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- A Navy pilot was pulled safely from the water Thursday after his fighter jet went down in the Atlantic Ocean about 70 miles off Virginia, the military said.

The pilot, the only person aboard the F/A-18 jet, was rescued by the Coast Guard after he ejected around 4 p.m., said Navy spokesman Lt. Cmdr. David Nunnally.

He was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The Navy asked the Coast Guard for help after it lost contact with the jet off the North Carolina coast, said Coast Guard spokesman Christopher Evanson.

The fighter jet was part of the VFA-87 squadron known as the "Golden Warriors" based at Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach

As has been mentioned here, the 104th Fighter Wing MA-ANG got rid of all its A-10 aircraft per BRAC. According to the Wing Commander in the October 'Airscoop' monthly publication (distributed today), they now have four F-15s and will have 10 by November of the eventual total of 20.

I haven't heard any traffic by those F-15s that could be identified as belonging to the 104th. I also have received no information from MilAir listeners up that way of callsigns used by these new F-15s. It seems doubtful to me that they'd keep the old A-10 callsigns so we need to be on the lookout for them operating in the offshore areas. I don't know if they'll move over to work in W-107 (closest to this area) or keep operating primarily in W-105 (closest to Massachusetts.) I'm listening for them though.
************************************************************************
THUG 01 (99-0063), THUG 02 (99-0064) and THUG 03 (92-3291) - C-17A transports from the 62nd AW McChord AFB WA are operating in the 1100 hour out of McGuire. This time 98-0055 is left out of the mix. He flew separately as THUG 04 in the 1000 hour.

Lots of KC-135 tankers also flying this morning. DC 51 (62-3556) and DC 52 (62-3543) are up from Andrews and others from both the PA-ANG and NY-ANG have been noted.
One of Dover's C-17As is flying (06-6167) under the ROYAL 50 flag.
Executive 1 Foxtrot also noted up at 1000 (C-40B, 01-0041, 1st AS Andrews)
Air Force 1 went out around 0800 (VC-25A, 92-9000, 1st AS Andrews)
E-6B (164404, VQ-4) coming across Virginia heading for Pax it appears in first half of 1200 hour.

Only one foreign flag noted so far today:
Canadian Air Force - CANFORCE 3011 (CC-144, tail 144618)

Since it's Friday, there is a very large contingent of LBE aircraft in the sky hauling LBs hither and yon at great expense.

I now know the explanation for why I saw about 6 helicopters in trail this morning heading south from Arlington around 9:00am. Twelve soldiers killed in a helo crash in Iraq earlier this year were buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Just before that I saw a CH-47 heading north by I-66/495.

2017- COBRA-72 (Open Skies) calling Leesburg Radio 255.4 74 mi west of AML, request departure message be sent to KOFF with an ETA of 0215Z, departed at 0002Z.
2028- Coast Guard chatter on 379.05 30min ETA, will land with 17k fuel. There was some CG chatter earlier on 379.05 and 345.0.
