Hey guys,

He just took off from Pease and is heading to Andrews. Having trouble getting his
requested altitude of FL200 so right now he is settleing at FL140 with 120 knot headwinds.
Currently working ZBW on 128.200 his routing is V308-OTT-ADW.
Just checked in with ZBW on 128.750 at 1847z FL140.

Hope you catch him. :)

Ed,

He's a BE-220 (C-12) from the Dept of Energy detachment at ADW. He was doing pattern work at ADW yesterday so he must've snuck up your way late yesterday or early this morning.

The Dept of Energy det used to be called the Washington Area Meteorlogical Office and the acft used to have the callsign WAMO ##. They supposed have some fairly sophisticated sensing equipment on board for detecting nuclear radiation/leaks, etc.

Thank you for his ID, Ron. Maybe he was up here checking on a radiation leak at the Portsmouth
Naval Shipyard which overhauls Nuclear Subs? Just a WAG. Anyway, I have heard the WAMO call
before so I guess that is now gone and I will hear ENERGY more often? While I'm on the subject of
call signs, I heard an AXIS 11 inbound to Brunswick yeaterday. Any idea whom he was?
Thanks,

Heads Up in W-105 MAINE/REBEL

1913z

MAINE 85 has been heading down there and I just heard him working NY Radio on 125.925
saying he wants to hold at the Hampton 165/63 radial to meet up and refuel REBEL 1, 2, and possibly 3
in the block altitude 22-25.

Hope you catch this!

Ed,

May have also been doing some surveillance of the New England area nuclear power plants to check if they were emitting/leaking any radiation. They do that down here every now and then at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Plant.

That makes much more sense Ron, thanks.

On an unrelated note, an Antonov AN-124 is on Bangor approach right now coming in from
Charleston. VDA-4712 is his flight number.

Sounds to me like they are on surveillance mission and didn't want to be noticed by someone on the ground.

Very nice logs Ron and Ed. You had a full house on a very busy and interesting day.

Just had the first Egyptian Air Force C-130 flight into BWI for the new year...
(Flight EGY 1101, C-130H, 1294/SU-BKT) They start with 1101 at the beginning of each year. This one was logged in mainland Portugal two days ago.
1941: EGY 1101 to BWI Tower reports on the ILS for runway 33L...119.4
1945: BWI Tower clears EGY 1101 to land 33L...119.4
1946:35: EGY 1101 touches down and Tower operator used her normal shorthand to tell him to use taxiway Hotel and Poppa and change to "point 9" - meaning Ground Control on 121.9. EGY 1101 didn't reply to this.
1949: Ground Control tells EGY 1101 to continue around on Poppa and then turn left on Bravo to the ramp...121.9 The End.
EGY 1101 had a very, very heavy accent - more so than their usual pilots arriving at BWI.
[The crew should be at Arundel Mills Mall very shortly loading up on Levis and shoes.]

Off topic observation: I've noticed many Cessna jets through the area the past couple of days owned by the Cessna Aircraft Company rather than individuals or businesses. Wonder why? New deliveries perhaps?

That should be a Cessna 208, N208EB. And they are higher than usual, currently at 9600. I thought that was kind of odd. I haven't had a chance to listen today until now. No tac comms heard yet.

While at work I did see an HMX-1 CH-46 heading east along helo Rt9 around mid morning.
