We have a KC-10A (87-0117) from the 60th AMW at Travis that has a nice callsign programmed in his Mode-S transponder this afternoon. He's showing:
S**T 81. It's being logged currently on the west coast.

(Someone just asked me if he's displaying it that way with the asterisks. Nope, he spelled it out.)

163918 just came by me a short time ago. Sounds like GOBY-31 with ZDC-Moorefield. He just requested direct Tinker.

NAVY 7N 473 (UC-12B, 161309) came by early this evening. Did it return to Andrews?

REACH 9013 (C-5A, 69-0013) departed sometime later...not sure of the destination - maybe overseas.

Sparky 1

Darn, I wish I had brought my scanners to work .... wonder if these were RC-12s? Had a couple of SUNNYs up this way in Feb I think.

SPARKY 1 was up with ZNY MANTA66 sector 128.300 around 0400L. I didn't have a long time to monitor ...... just heard him tally [traffic] and that he would be doing something in 13 1/2 minutes [RTB??]

I didn't hear anything on 255.700.

It departed McGuire a couple of hours later and the UK loggers began showing it at 1325Z

Also had a BLUE 12 (KC-135R, 60-0328, 351st ARS RAF Mildenhall) depart (probably) from McGuire late in the 1000 hour. It arrived yesterday afternoon as BLUE 49. I didn't hear anything flying with it this morning.

And one of the DE-ANG C-130H birds got tapped for EVAC missions. It's flying as EVAC 40206 (C-130H, 84-0206, 142nd AS)

Just got word that 92-9000 is up and flying this morning as VENUS 02 - not here but in Everett WA from KPAE (Snohomish County Airport/Paine Field) where it has been for awhile. I guess it has been undergoing either maintenance and/or upgrades.

Busy morning at Patterson:

NASA 806 (ER-2, N806NA) airborne for a mission...hasn't returned yet.

VENUS 92 (C-32A, 98-0002) VFR pattern work before returning to Andrews.

N92B (King Air 90, Dynamic Aviation) arrived from KVBW.

MUTANT 01 (2x unid F-16) stopped by for a while, departed about 1640Z heading due west - requested all VHF frequencies.

PITT 07 (C-130H, 78-0807) came in; after departure the last vector was direct APE - maybe heading home.

PITT 13 (C-130H, 78-0813) was also by - departed at 35 past the hour (1535Z?). Same direction from what I can tell.

I can't remember exactly where I saw it, but I vaguely recall a picture of it at KPAE with a caption stating that it was being repainted.

I'm told it has been in the paint hangar since April but suspect that's not the only reason it's there.

1258: Irish Air Corps (GLF4, 251, 102 Squadron) zipping through the area at FL 450

1258: BLUE 11 (KC-135R, 58-0036, 351st ARS RAF Mildenhall) also in the area...at FL 360 so heading to the west.

Hearing activity in AR-455. Comms are sparse, but I think I heard 71 as an identifier.

Heard 70 and 71 just a second ago.

A/A comms for bomb runs on 314.400 - somewhere in Buckeye or Brush Creek.

1852Z 126.500 DAY DEPARTURE - RHINO 91 (C-5A, 445th AW) direct ROD on course, climb and maintain 10000
1854Z 126.500 - contact ZID 128.07
1856Z 126.900 TOWER - NAVY 7N 521 (UC-12B, 161309) 7 miles TACAN 5L
1857Z 126.900 - gear down, cleared to land 5L

With ZID, RHINO 91 was cleared direct DJB...likely headed to northeast somewhere - maybe McGuire?

1518: E-6B, 164404, VQ-4 at FL 250 on a 90 degree course across southern PA - about 15 miles north of the MD border.
1528: The E-6B changed course to 124 degrees and is coming down toward MD's northeast corner where he'll cross into Cecil County.
1532: It has crossed Cecil County and enters DE...still at FL 250 (earlier I said he was descending but that altitude was from an aircraft just adjacent to our guy on radar. I became dyslexic for a moment.)
1535: Across Delaware Bay and across the southern border of NJ now which parallels his course. If he stays on this course, he'll get to Sea Isle in just a bit.
1540:37: And he's directly over Sea Isle...still at FL 250, still on course 124 and zipping along at just over 400 knots....and he heads out to the Atlantic....changed course at Sea Isle very slightly to 121 degrees....and I lose the Mode-S signal when he gets about 40 nm off shore.
I've been monitoring Shadow Maintenance on 310.15 but haven't heard him contact the folks at Pax yet so he might be out there for a bit.

Curently (1655 EDT) have Dragnet working with Airgun flt on 292.2 in W386

Don't know Ron if you've got AIRGUN as an F-15 or F-22A but it reminds me...both the F-15s at the 71st FS at Langley and the 58th FS at Eglin are going away for good soon. I wonder who will have the CAP duty? It seems a waste to use F-22s for that duty. Then again, they don't go off to war so they might as well do something useful.

Tin,

My list carries Airgun as F-22s---but hard to tell for sure based on the snippets I heard.

Let's put those Raptors in combat over Iraq or Afghanistan and find out if they are any good or not.

Maybe that's why the 71st & 58th have been pulling CAP duty---wear out those birds soon so they can trade them in for Raptors.

ASCOT 9329 HEAVY (VC-10) inbound with ASCOT 9773 (4x Tornado), requesting 80000 lbs of fuel. I'd kill to be up in Dayton to see them come in! Does anyone have any common RAF A/A freqs that I can listen for?

The British are coming! ASCOT 5727 (C-130) just called in...somewhat difficult to make out (mostly due to the accent). I'll listen to it later to see what I can gather. It was using the western sector frequency with Dayton, but I'm not sure that's where it came from.

UPSET 61 (KC-135) did a few approaches before picking up a clearance back to Milwaukee.

UHF appch.Self id as F/18.
