I think this is who I heard meeting up with ETHYL LIMA 1 & 2 on AR20NE 341.750 around 2246Z.

tnx

Good catch John, yeah those E-4B's really suck the tankers dry on way
over and back.Prob will take 2 -3 KC-135's off UK on way home later this week.
Once heard report an E-4B take 4 KC-135's 50k pounds each tanker on same AR for rtb home Offutt.
I notice that ETHYL Lima callsign always seems for Specials like this one.

MIRAGE 21 FLIGHT (2x AV-8B) and OTIS 18 (KC-130J) returning from a mission just before 0300Z. OTIS 18 unable to retract refueling hose and dragging about 80 feet behind it. "CHIEF 2" (USMC ground controller) declared an IFE for 18...18 reports 20000 lbs of fuel, 7 souls on board. Landing uneventful, engine shutdown on runway and a quick inspection and FOD check.

Also finally figured out the "MIRAGE BASE" frequency - I think its 236.250 (VMGR-252) or one of their air tacticals...had them all plugged in and got a hit while recording. I'll try to post which one when I can confirm it.

Indeed, although I think one can say that ETHYL 'Alpha-numeric" is special. I've heard ETHYL WHISKEY, FOXTROT, GOLF as well as the LIMAs.

Also, these 2 may have been McGuire KC-10s .... I heard chatter later on 139.875 over an hour later. Whoever it was they were pretty far away .... possibly heading back southeast.

JOSA 996 (C-21A, unid) - dropping off an A3, 3000 lbs fuel; to KBLV

Ground reading clearance: "JOSA 996 cleared to Scott as filed...departure frequency 126.5, squawk 6666."
996: "Don't like that squawk."
Ground: "Yeah, it didn't sound too good."

On a side note, I'm working on finding out presets for the local F-16s and need some help. Heard SABER xx call on 139.000, "SABERS push TOD ["Todd," not T-O-D] secure." Would that be referring to the Mickey?

ROPER-?? it might have been, heard calling Martinsburg tower on 236.6 just once. Never heard again.

TP65 on 335.5 sounds like a helo. Heading to Pax. A DC ANG WILD flight is also heading that way.

Flightaware is showing N8044X out of Pax today. That reg is reserved by Sikorsky.

SPINE/SPLINE/FLYING????? -32 flight of two into Dulles. 128.425 No mode-S. I got a visual on them, albeit from about 8 miles, but I can't tell what they are. Looked like they could've been WWII bombers or something.

From someone in the know at IAD... it was a pair of A-10s, and it was SWINE. (Is that a Barksdale callsign?) From the same source, should also be 2x KC-135 and a C-130 into Dulles for the Plane Pull tomorrow.

Never would've expected that. That explains the odd silhouettes I saw. That's a Barksdale and 81st FS callsign.

My RadarBox is now boxed up to send off to England for replacement. I figure I'll be without it for at least two weeks.:( Plenty of time to work on the database file now.

Here's what will be on display at Dulles. I may go check it out.
Vickers Supermarine Mark IX Spitfire, Fighter Factory, VA
T-28 Trojan, National Capital Squadron
P-51 Mustang "Quicksilver"
A-26 Douglas "Invader", Wilmington, NC
F4U-5U Corsair, Collings Foundation, Mass
T-28B Trojan
L-5 Stinson "Gayle Ann"
BT-13A Vultee
T-6G Texan
PT-19 Fairchild
UH-58 DC Army National Guard Helicopter
UH-72A DC Army National Guard Helicopter
UH-1 DC Army National Guard Helicopter
A-10 Maryland Air National Guard
A-10 “Warthog” (2), Barksdale AFB, LA
LC-130H Stratton Air National Guard, NY
C-160 German Military Cargo Aircraft
KC-135R, Altus AFB, OK
P-51D Mustang, "Slender, Tender & Tall"

I think that F16SUCK A-10 may be the MD ANG one on display. I had it on my Radarbox down to 1140ft at 1520 local. Definitely need a tail on that one.

That would explain that..LOL
By the way the new Beta 3.06 RB software upgrade really works well
on the RB box.Big improvement in callsigns,ID's,logos etc
I didn't have much luck with the last Beta.

For about a month I had been using a special 3.02 version that they sent me to test. 3.06 seems to work the same.

Looking at my RB log now, 83-0491 SKIER91 should be the C-130 at Dulles. Landing about 1420.
58-0035 RCH1107 is probably one of the KC-135s. Landing about 1130.
GASSR51 AE048C unknown tail, should be the other one. Down to 1030 ft at 1252.
50+86 would be the C-160.

AE048C should be Altus 97AMW KC-135 #63-8883.GASSER Callsign matches up as well for Altus.
Don't get many Altus aircraft around here.

Had this one in earlier today, nothing but speculation about possible RC-135 tail.
AE01D3 COBRH 29 (mispelled COBRA) 10/02 14:57z FL9kand later 10/02 16:36z FL6k.
