2100 local strong WBFM again on 337.200 but also showing E-6B
164406 inbound towards Pax River from Jersey.
Maybe they ditched the old 286.100 for now.

Sport 1

At 1435Z, heard Sport 1 working Potomac on 257.2 heading west at FL180, flight of two. They sent him to ZDC Linden on 322.55, at the same altitude.

Driving around and listening on both the PTC VHF and UHF freqs--including driving near a couple of their transmitter sites--my impression is that PTC does NOT simulcast V/U the way the centers do, but instead comes up on UHF when an aircraft checks in. I want to check that with friends who work out there, but that's my observation.

RAMPAGE-1 req direct Henderson when able. ZDC-Hagerstown 227.125 Radio sounds like it could be an EA-6B. That would match for VAQ-138.
1411- MARINE-384 with 133.55 ZDC-Linden which is where RAMPAGE-1 is handed off to and checks in immediately after.
1416- RAMPAGE-1 to 127.925 ZDC-Valley
1429- LOBO-544 with ZDC-Valley.
1431- LOBO-544 to ZDC-Bryce 118.025 climbing to FL350.
1442- LOBO-544 to 120.275 ZID

Heard that also. Also heard a couple Airliners on ZDC VHF complaining about
bleedover etc and lousy reception
He prob just wanted to avoid that stuff.

1207Z - 1225Z

GOLD 32 joined them around Nantucket and I gathered he was taking them east. GOLD 31 told ATC that MAZDA 81 was going back to Cherry Point .... maybe I misheard. I presumed he was the spare.

They faded quickly for me .... Prowlers were hardly audible.

Yeah they seemed to be moving and fade fast here as well.
I heard MAZDA 86 spare rtb Cherry Point as well.Never heard MAZDA 81 again
but guess he couldn't get his reciever to work right.
Don't know why they didn't have MAZDA 86 press on seeing 81 was useless.

Dover base opens new air traffic control tower
Associated Press

DOVER – Dover Air Force Base officials have opened a new air traffic control tower able to display a plane's movements digitally.
Maj. Joe Rojas said the larger tower replaces the oldest control tower in the Department of Defense's system. He spoke Monday at a dedication ceremony for the new tower.
The 120-foot tower is 25 feet taller than its 54-year-old predecessor and cost $16.3 million. Rojas said the main control room's more central location allows workers to see all the way to the north edge of the air base.
Now workers in the control room can both listen in as pilots talk with controllers and see a digital image of the planes' altitude, speed and direction.

Now if they can just get their local UHF radios working again.
COMMAND POST FREQUENCY UHF 349.4 UNAVAILABLE. PLEASE CALL COMMANDPOST ON VHF 134.1
RAPCON FREQUENCY UHF 323.0 UNAVAILABLE. ALL TRAFFIC USE APPROACHCONTROL FREQ 257.875

1200 local CP back up and working as HAGAR 71 inbound on CP 349.400
