Have the BICEP flight on the webcast for now.
They seem to be calling a ground controller using SNAKE as a callsign. Guess it's a forward air controller type activity on the ground. They've worked with that same controller callsign in the past at the Pax River Range around Vienna MD.

Freq 118.8750,was doing a service search on Air band and caught what sounded like ARMY 08 on this freq saying they were gonna rtb.anyone have an idea? Nothing heard on this freq since.

Caught a REACH 2112 departing unknown prob Dover on ZDC 132.0500 wants direct Meridian then direct Baltimore 124.7750 then 125.450 then Montebello 133.970 climbing to 340K direct Meridian.
I'm assuming by Air Nav search that is Meridian NAS
ZDC Feq 132.0500 seems popular tonite in and out of Dover.

0930: Flight of three MILLER F-15s (Langley) just leaving GIANT KILLER's area using «249.8»
0942: Couple of tankers talking about their IPs on interplane freq «139.875» There was mention of Nantucket and of Hampton.
1006: Navy JT 051 calls GIANT KILLER on «135.725» and then «255.0» with no reply. He then goes back to «135.725», makes contact, and reports he's going to be entering W-107 for an unspecified event in about 5 minutes. Says he'll report back when Washington Center releases him and is currently about 40 miles west of the area.
1013: Army Copter 21736 to Weide AAF on «126.2» reports he's "over the Bush" (Bush River) and inbound to Weide to pick up hazardous cargo. Will come in from the south for landing
1014-15: Navy JT 051 calls GK again on «135.725» ready to enter the area if it's open..is cleared in for altitudes A-D.
1017: Two U/I aircraft "check Uniform" on HUNTRESS' freq «298.3» and chat about what" pretty country up this way." Sounds like a pair of transiting aircraft but no callsigns heard.
1018: Navy JT 051 tells GK he's been cleared off by Washington Center and will now be monitoring this freq «135.725» reports when he finishes he'll be going to Atlantic City and then to his home station of Willow Grove.
1020: The U/I pair on «298.3» talking about seeing something in their targetting pod...and that makes the ID fighters rather than anything else....maybe.
1024: The «298.3» pair talking about how their pod tracks better in IR mode but IDs better in TV mode.
1030: Still there on «298.3» slowing to 350. #1 mumbled a callsign this time and I didn't understand it.
1038: Navy JT 051 tells GK that he's going up to FL300 and be there for about 10 minutes and then he'll be done. «135.725»
1038: One of the U/I fighters on «298.3» changes to an ATIS freq and comes back with the weather....they are now very weak and fading out.
1040: DC 31 (KC-135, 756 ARS, Andrews AFB MD) to GK on «135.725» wants to enter W-105 at altitude 200.
1043: DC 31 reports he'll depart the area at 1715Z enroute Andrews «135.725»
1048: Navy JT 051 to GK reports he's beginning his descent now «135.725»
1049: Langley tac freq «252.775» active...very weak.
NOTE: Media reports of a Cessna crash at Leesburg Airport in VA...two dead.
1052: ???? 61 into GK's area on «249.8» (Callsign may be SPEEDO from Langley) Push 16 over 1 AUX....
1055: GK's «373.1» active which may be the Langley fighters from above.

1100: Confirm callsign SPEEDO (F-15 Langley) for the above fighters that are working «373.1» Sounds like a flight of three and possibly four.
1101: Northrup Gruman ground station at BWI giving a test count on «123.225»
1107: JOSA 214 reports take off time from Andrews at 1604Z «378.1»
1115: Couple of tankers chatting on AR Primary «238.9» One is on a checkout flight, one says he lost his receiver so he'll stay out of the way and use secondary freq. (One of these I believe is DC 31.)
1118: Also on «238.9» the one that needs the AR checkout is ???? 11 and he calls a BACKY flight which I can't hear to see if he can tag along with the BACKY flight and perform his boom operator checkout. (BACKY callsign is used by KC-135s from the 77th ARS at Seymour-Johnson AFB.)
1120: JOSA 645 to SAM Command on «141.55» reporting takeoff time as 1610Z.
1125: SPEEDO 63 reports RTB to GK on «249.8» didn't say if it's a single ship RTB or the entire flight.
1126: SPEEDO 62 reports in as flight of two, FL240, 20 miles southeast of field with ZDC-Bucks Elbow VA on «284.7»
1128: SPEEDO 63 cleared to descend to 12,000 by GK on «249.8» Push 4 AUX.
1128: SPEEDO flight comes up on 4 AUX which is «238.825»
1131: Tanker still chatting on «238.9» about losing receivers and mentions not hooking up with the Eagles (F-15s) and apparently the joint operation with the BACKY tanker didn't work out. (Can only hear one side of the conversation.)
1134: DARKSTAR (E3B Tinker AFB OK) to GK wants permission to meet up with BACKY 92 (No doubt our KC-135 from above on 238.9) for refueling in AR-636. He then mentions CENTURY 50 (E3B, 552 ACW, Tinker AFB OK) coming in MARSA with BACKY 92. «238.1»
NOTE: I'm in the habit of always listing the aircraft from the 552nd Air Control Wing at Tinker AFB as E3B but the 552nd has both B and C models and without a tail number there is just no way to distinguish between them.
1145: DARKSTAR calling GIANT KILLER several times without making contact on «238.1»

1202: U/I aircraft with HUNTRESS on «364.2» asking for a sweet/sour check and reports his Mode 3 as 2406. Nothing more heard from this aircraft.
1203: DC 31 with GK on «135.725» calling (Actually only heard the 31 but it seems there is also a TEAM 31 flying around the area so it might be TEAM rather than DC.)
1204: NODAK 1 (F-16, 178th Fighter Squadron, ND-ANG Fargo) with ZDC-Bucks Elbow VA on «284.7» FL240 down to FL210 (Wonder if this is another of the SPIDERs heading for Langley.)
1214: TEAM 31 (KC-10A, McGuire) reports at FL220 and awaiting command to RTB McGuire. «135.725» cleard down to 15,000.
1214: DARKSTAR reports finished refueling «135.725»
1215: DC 31 reports finishing up in W-107 and wants direct Waterloo. «135.725» (Now a female speaker which makes it easy to distinguish DC from TEAM. Hope they stay this way.)
1220: TEAM 31 clears off GIANT KILLER's freq «135.725»
1226: BAT 58 (Poss. F-18 from MCAS Miramar CA or B-1B from Dyess AFB TX and maybe even an EC-130 from Davis-Monthan AFB AZ or 3-4 more choices) reports in to ZDC-Patuxent on «281.4» at 18,500 for 22,000...then a couple of minutes later for FL260
1232: BAT 58 to ZDC-Hopewell VA on «269.3» cleared up to FL280.
1241: BAT 58 gets freq change but is too weak to copy. «269.3»
1242: SPEEDO 61 with GK on «238.1» Reports at 14,000
1245: SPEEDO 61 clears off the GK freq «238.1»
1248: PECOS 51 (F-15 Langley) flight reports into GK's area using «249.8»
1250: TRAP 91, flight of two F-15s from Langley reports into GK's area using «249.8»
1258: VENUS 26 to SAM Command on «378.1» reports in the pattern at this time and should be in the blocks at 10 after the hour. Is A-2 for landing gear hydraulics and needs a parking spot....gets 7-B.

Continued below due to character count limit getting close.

1302: U/I aircraft...suffix 06 on «339.6» mentions no contact with the tanker.
Anyone identify this freq?
1311: Another u/i freq - «303.0» suffix 12 sounds like a tanker mentioning 30K of fuel now and will have about 25K when in the pattern so it's okay.
1313: Also on «303.0» suffix 12 with female speaker this time calling Foxtrot and says they'll be Code 2 or 3 with a problem on the pilot's side (mumbled the specifics)
We've got FOXTROT with letter suffixes that are US Navy callsigns.
1323: VIPER 21 checking in with ZDC-Falls Church VA on «381.5» at FL240 (There are about 20 choices for the VIPER callsign so I won't even try to identify it.)
1323: VA-ANG freq «141.825» is active. Sounds more like an overflight of our area than F-16s from Richmond. (See item at 1335 for ID)
1326: VIPER 21 wants a UHF freq «381.5» and gets 319.1.
1326: VIPER 21 checking in with ZDC-Linden VA on «319.1» at FL240. "VIPERs push 284.7"
1328" VIPER 21 checking in with ZDC-Bucks Elbow VA on «284.7» FL 240 ...Push 380.3
1329: U/I aircraft on that «339.6» freq says he's going to use 236.25 as AR Primary so I'll set up on that freq and see what I hear. The 339.6 freq seems to be a squadron freq for a tanker group. He mentions they need an ARCT to be at the IP 30 minutes prior to the refueling and didn't get it. No one complained to him (the tanker)
1331: VIPER 21 to ZDC-Green Bay VA on «380.3» at FL 240
1335: Confirmed it's not VA-ANG on «141.825» It's this VIPER flight, two aircraft. Although there are many units using the VIPER callsign, most of them are F-16s and the use of a VHF freq for tac would seem to indicate that's what these VIPERs are. Here is the list of possible choices for the VIPER callsign...pick one:
VIPER CP RAF FLIGHT WATCH STATION-FALKLAND ISLANDS
VIPER 01 C-12 Unk Unit at Andrews.
VIPER F-16A 184th FS AR ANG Ft Smith
VIPER A-10A 104th FG, MA ANG at Barnes ANGB
VIPER C-130 118th AW, TN ANG at Nashville
VIPER F-16C/D 120th FS, CO ANG at Buckley ANGB
VIPER F-16 388th FW, Hill AFB, UT
VIPER F-16C/D 56th FW, Luke AFB, AZ
VIPER F-16C/D 111th FS TX ANG Ellington ANGB
VIPER F-16C/D 555th FS Aviano Italy
VIPER F-16 422nd Test Sqd, Eglin AFB FL
VIPER F-16C/D 57th FW Weapons School, Nellis AFB NV
VIPER F-16C/D 124th FS IA ANG Des Moines
VIPER F-16C/D 125th FS OK ANG Tulsa
VIPER UH-1 HMLA-169, MCAS Camp Pendleton, CA
VIPER F-16C/J 78th FS Shaw AFB SC
VIPER F-16C/D 170th FS IL ANG Springfield
The 1335 transmissions were the last heard from the VIPER flight as they flew out of listening range.

1338: The U/I tanker comes up on «236.25» and tells a ground station that he hasn't heard from "them" yet - apparently a reference to his receiver(s).
NOTE: Adding 236.25 to my list of refueling freqs.
1339: Army 301 to Andrews on «141.55» mentions he's based there and won't need fuel upon landing.
1344: The tanker goes back to «339.6» and tells ground station that he heard from his receiver and he's going to "push it up" and be at the IP at 1400.
1347: Tanker talks to receiver - who is extremely weak - on «236.25» to see how soon he can get to the IP...the tanker then goes back to «339.6» and says they can't drop their bombs and get to us by 1400, in fact, he's not sure he can even get here by 1400, let alone drop his bombs first. Back to «236.25» to say they can't hook up with the receiver because of time...mentions checking in with Cherry Point and then going home but they've still got a lot of gas on board. Wish I could get a callsign out of these guys. They might have used one for the receivers on 236.25 but I missed what I thought was a callsign. Anyway 339.6 and 236.25 are going to be new additions to my scan rotation. Not sure there'll always be this much talking but worth plugging in to see. 339.6 is the squadron freq and 236.25 is the primary refueling freq for these guys.
1353: DARKSTAR to GK on «238.1» seems to be doing an alpha check of the DATALINK...signal is very weak. Gives Mode 3 as 3024.

1400: BOXER 32 (C-38, Andrews) to Boxer Ops on «314.25» reports airborne about 10 minutes ago.
1401: SLAM 31 (F-16s VA-ANG) to ZDC-Cape Charles VA on «257.7» reports as a flight of four at FL260.
1403: SLAM 31 requests entry to W-386
1403: SLAM flight on tac «141.875»
1405: SLAM flight exits FL260 for 290. SLAMs push Victor-16
1406: DARKSTAR to GK on «238.1» confirming he has the airspace.
1409: SLAM flight on «139.625» Not sure if this is V-16 due to the time lag.
1410: SLAM push 391.2 «139.625» SLAM push 141.65 at 1411.
1412: SLAM flight up on «141.65» and they are working with DARKSTAR.
1414: U/I Langley flight into GK's area on «249.8» Push Prime 1
1417: TESTER 26 (US Navy Test Pilot School, Patuxent NAS) with BayWatch on «270.8» using R-4005 north and south.
1420: WOLF 11 flight (F-15 Langley) into GK's area on «238.1» at FL220
1424: GK's ops freq «292.3» active...someone using suffix 83 so it's not the WOLF pack and not the SLAM gang so it's probably the U/I flock.
1430: WOLF 11 flight on Langley tac «233.525»
1434: TESTER 26 tally ho as he reports seeing the F-18 below him...no conflict «270.8»
1435: WATERBUG 958 (Force Aircraft TEst Squadron, Pax River NAS) to BayWatch on «270.8» wants to RTB and requests "high key" if possible. (No idea what high key is...perhaps Dave can help us out here.)
1436: SPAR 42 (SAM VIP flight) to SAM Command for radio check on «378.1» No reply.
1446: DARKSTAR to GIANT KILLER on «238.1» reports a single ship - 32 - is going to RTB. This is probably SLAM 32. GK tells DARKSTAR to have him report in on 238.1.
1447: Yup...SLAM 32 to GK on «238.1» reports single ship 20 miles northeast wants to RTB Richmond.
1448: SLAM 31 and the remainder of the flight working with DARKSTAR on tac «141.65»
1452: WOLF 11 asking GK if altitude Kilo has any aircraft in it and also wants confirmation the test track is not active «238.1»
1453: DARKSTAR to GK on «238.1» getting clearance for SLAM 31/33/34 to RTB Richmond. (Why is he doing this rather than SLAM flight leader?)
1459: SLAM flight headed home using tac freq «141.875» DARKSTAR is on the freq with them.

1503: U/I flight (sounded like CAPE 73) talking to DARKSTAR to see if he can get a vector relayed to him from GIANT KILLER to reach STEEL 71 (KC-135, PA-ANG Pittsburgh) (If that callsign was CAPE, those are F-15s from Otis ANFB MA)
1523: DARKSTAR PAPA reports ARCT on «364.2» (Not sure who he's reporting this to but this is a HUNTRESS freq.)
1530: JOSA 892 reports airborne at 2012Z and would like that passed to Scott (AFB) «141.55»
1538: Have had a pair of fighters chatting back and forth with short transmissions for about 15 minutes on Pax River's «256.5» They are using 18 and 9 as IDs - probably making them TESTER 18 and TESTER 09. Just mentioned they'd meet up over Point Lookout at 15 (prob 15,000 feet). At 1541, one of the above mentions he's having a pressurization problem so the other says let's go down to 10(000).
1549: JOSA 596 reports to SAM Command he's airborne at 2041Z and says there needs to be a Delay Code attached to that. «378.1»
1551: TALON 99 (prob MC-130 from the 16th SOS, Hurlburt Field FL) to ZDC-Patuxent MD on «281.4» FL220 going up to FL260
1553: 18 and 9 decide they're done and will RTB. 18 says, "you lead the way." TESTER 09 to BayWatch on «256.5» reports RTB to duty runway 24. At 1555, runway in sight.
1559: TESTER 04 with BayWatch on «354.8»
1600: END OF REPORT

1830 @ There was a CRAB 51 with Phillips AAF on «126.15»
1840-55: Chat between a couple of tankers on interplane «139.875» with only one suffix mentioned -- 36.
1903: BICEP flight (F-16, NJ-ANG Atlantic City) active on «138.875» Flight of three.
1903: U/I flight mentions direct to McGuire with GIANT KILLER on «255.0» (This is one of the tankers that was on 139.875.)
1906: BICEP flight with ZDC-Sea Isle NJ on «285.4»
1908: BICEP flight leader with range controller - probably at Pax - giving mission ordnance on «138.875»
1909: CRAB 51 leaving Phillips AAF area «126.15»
1909: TEAM 35 (KC-10A McGuire AFB NJ) with GK on «255.0» (This is the U/I from above) He was with TEAM 36 on 139.875. TEAM 35 currently FL260.
1911: TEAM 35 leaving FL260 for 180 «255.0»
1912: BICEP flight leader mentions contacting KILLER 52 on Blue 6....searching for it. «138.875»
1913: BICEP says go to Blue 1 and tells KILLER 52 they'll be back on his freq shortly. «138.875»
1915: BICEP now talking to KINGPIN. I'm beginning to think all these guys - KILLER 52 and KINGPIN are just roles being played by BICEPs. «138.875»
1917: TEAM 35 signs off with GK as he heads for home on «255.0»
1918: BICEP tells range controller they need a slip of four minutes because of weather. «138.875» BICEP flight leader says he has contact with the ground force. They'll shortly contact KILLER 52 on Blue 6. Never did find them last time he said that.
1922: BICEP flight leader contacts KILLER 52 on this same tac freq and is answered. I still think the role of KILLER 52 is being played by one of the BICEP F-16s. «138.875»
1927: BICEP flight performing ground attack missions at the Pax River Range. «138.875»
BICEP 1 is flying 9,000 feet and below, 2 flying 10-15,000 and 3 is 16-20,000 feet. BICEP 1 gets a little weak when he drops way down near the ground target.
1941: Aircraft on «351.2» talking about pressurization problem...it's probably a DC KC-135 tanker from Andrews. (Turns out to be DC 32)
1947: BICEP ground attack work continues at the Pax River Range with buddy lase attacks. «138.875»
1948: OPEC 39 (KC-10A, McGuire AFB NJ) with (missed callsign but the same guy with the pressurization problem mentioned above) on «238.9» OPEC 39 mentions approaching Norfolk. (Missed callsign was DC 32)
1953: BICEP flight reports Code 1 for all three F-16s...2 is cleared off to report to ops and goes to «261.0» to give the Code status and tells Ops they are 15 minutes out.
1954: BICEP flight to ZDC-Kenton DE on «277.4» to get direct Atlantic City clearance.
1954: OPEC 39 with DC 32 on «238.9» chat about meeting up at the IP. OPEC 39 says he's now 80 miles from Norfolk.
1956: BICEP flight back to «138.875» to chat their way home...mentions they need to fly in closer formation at night than they would during the day.
1957: OPEC 39 checking in with GIANT KILLER at FL260 on «118.125»
1959: OPEC 39 tells GK he'll be doing refueling in AR-636 with DC 32 on «118.125»

2003: OPEC 39 reports an ELT going off about 30 seconds ago ?that he's hearing?. «118.125»
2005: OPEC 39 getting very weak and tells GK that since GK can't hear him either, can he have a new freq. I can't hear him after that to hear if he repeated a new freq. «118.125» Searching....
2007: Find OPEC 39 working with GK on «249.8» and he's still weak but asking GK again if he heard the report about the ELT (Emergency Locator Tone/Transmitter).
2040: Tanker chat on interplane freq «139.875» The chat continues on and off through 2045 but is very weak.
2047: Langley SOF freq «383.2» active.
2055: WB ?249? (Whiskey Bravo) to GIANT KILLER on «255.0» IDs as an E2, will be working in W-107 from 20-30,000 feet.

From today's activity I'm looking for IDs for the following freqs:
236.25 (refueling activity - or at least talk about refueling)
250.3 Unknown
339.6 (Probable squadron freq for some tanker unit)
303.0 Unknown
141.825 (Tac used by other than VA-ANG, callsign VIPER)

Not expecting very much activity during the early part of the day due to weather. It's mostly overcast but the problem is high winds aloft.

1100 hour: For the past 35 minutes I've been listening to an aircraft working with Pax River Echo on «310.55» and on «277.0» with a u/i unit ground station. No doubt a Navy aircraft doing some kind of testing and broadcasting a telemetry signal. He's operating up at 40,000 feet. At one point he mentions a SALTY DOG aircraft (without number suffix) that's apparently tailing him. He never IDs himself except that he's going back into Patuxent NAS when he finishes. It's now 1139 and he mentions getting low on fuel and requests a straight in approach to runway 32. Seems weather has been a problem during his flight. He also just used "35" as an ID when switching back to Echo but don't know if that's for him or someone else. At 1146 he finishes his run, says he's going to spiral down and go straight into runway 32. He also finally IDs himself as SALTY DOG 100. He's also asking, at 1148, if he should turn off the TS stuff (telemetry) now or wait until he's on the runway.

1140: Langley tac freq «238.825» active.
1142: There has been a female voice giving what sounds like coordinates for the past 10 minutes on HUNTRESS freq «260.9» but the activity is very weak and likely well outside this area.
1222-24: BOLAR 70 (C-5A, Dover AFB DE) calling Dover Command Post with no reply on «349.4»
1222: THOR calling OMAHA 3 (Customs) on «282.425»
1228: BOLAR 70 makes contact with Dover CP on «349.4» and reports 20 minutes out from the blocks, has completed only about 50% of their training because "two tankers broke" and so they're coming home...request parking spot.
1235: SALTY DOG 213 reports RTB on Pax River freq «256.5»

1300: DEVIL 11 (F-16, NJ-ANG Atlantic City) flight with ZDC-Sea Isle on «285.4»
1304: DEVIL 11 enters BayWatch area on «270.8» at 16,000 feet
1305: DEVIL 11 on tac «138.425»
1308: DEVIL is a flight of two F-16s...the tac freq 138.425 is noisy they say so they decide to switch to V-17 and come up on «138.875» as expected and are happy with this one.
1323: Whatever the DEVIL flight is doing in the Pax River area, they must be at very low altitudes because I can barely hear them. They're still using «138.875»
1325: JOSA 412 to SAM Command on «378.1» with no reply so switches to «141.55». He says they've been told they can't come into Andrews and wants to know how long the delay will be. (I assume this means a ramp freeze is in effect.) He reports being directly overhead Andrews at this time and yet he's reporting the ground station is coming in broken and keeps asking for repeats.
Conditions are very noisy today and weaker transmissions are being blocked by static. All I hear is noise from the Andrews ground controller and he is always very readable at other times. The same thing is happening with the DEVIL flight - each time they key up all I get is a blast of static.
1333: DEVIL flight on «138.875» says push 256.8 and sure enough come up on ZDC-Snow Hill on «256.8» reports a flight of two F-16s at 15,500 direct Waterloo...then Sea Isle.
1337: DEVIL flight switches to ZDC-Sea Isle on «285.4» to report FL155 and start chatting on the way home on tac «138.875» yet again.
1340: DEVIL 11 flight reports they'll leave 15,500 for a rapid descent down to 500 feet «285.4» (Can't hear the ground controller on this freq so don't know the reason for that rapid descent. I do know it'll probably be the last I hear from them.)

1412: COBRA 60 (too many units use this callsign to be able to identify its unit) through the area on ZDC-Patuxent «281.4»
1417: Northrup Gruman test flight freq «123.225» active. Test aircraft plus trail.
1418: Have a U/I aircraft using freq «142.75» He mentions using runway 32 (which could be Pax River) and stopping on Golf (I suppose that refers to taxiway) and meeting up with whomever he's talking to. I can't hear the other end of the conversation. This is a new use of this frequency - at least to me it is. He makes small talk for about a minute and then I hear no more from him.
1430-35: REACH 955 trying to call Andrews Command Post on «351.2» Then he calls Andrews AFRC Ops on the same freq and finally gets answer from LIBERATOR. He explains he's a C-5 trying to reach Andrews Command Posts and asks for the correct freq. And so....he then calls Andrews Command Post on «378.1» and explains that he's a C-5, is 10 minutes out and has been trying to call the CP for several minutes. He reports he's A-1, has no pax and no cargo and will be uploading Saturday night. He will need billeting and transportation for 7 crew members and explains he has two crew chiefs among the crew. He's told to park in slot 13-C.
1457: TESTER 18 with BayWatch on «270.8» at FL140...direct Hannibal.

1510: The Northrup Gruman flight is still up and working. He just gave a telephone number and name to call and the message he wants passed is, "Get the champagne ready. We succeeded." Guess that has something to do with the flight testing he's presently doing. «123.225» It's very difficult to tell what kind of testing they're doing because it's all on cards and they just read the card number and item number from that card at the beginning of each test.
1526: Fighter tac freq «139.625» active...may or may not be VA-ANG F-16s.
1544: Fighter tac freq «139.9» active...may or may not be DC-ANG F-16s.
As with 139.625, this activity on 139.9 is fairly weak and just seems to be banter and may even be the same guys on both freqs from an out-of-area unit. Weak traffic is very difficult to copy today because of the noise level on the milair bands - especially the 138-144 band.
1554: The Northrup Gruman pair is still flying but the wingman/trail aircraft is heading for home. The primary aircraft will be about an hour behind. He again passed the message about getting the champagne ready and wants his wingman to call that same number and person mentioned earlier about the success. He said he wants the whole unit to know about it. I'm not sure what they accomplished today but it sure has this pilot psyched. «123.225»

Al, I have 250.3 as a past (maybe still is) Baywatch freq. Also 303.0 was reported way back in Feb as a A/A refueling freq.

Right you are Mike on that 250.3 freq. That was another of those brain freezes. Not only should I have realized it was a Pax River freq but I also have it programmed already. Thanks. That 303.0 freq I thought might be associated with refueling somehow because it sounded like the same guys that were on 339.6 which is apparently a tanker unit's squadron freq. I just need to get it placed to a specific unit however.

1850: Scanners back on and find NJ-ANG F-16s from Atlantic City apparently working in the Pax River area doing ground attack exercises on their tac «138.425» Callsign BICEP, flight of three.
1901: BICEP 11 flight ready to quit and change to ZDC-Snow Hill MD on «256.8» and does. Report FL155 and 50 miles to the west of Sea Isle.
1905: MASH 85 (KC-135, AFRC, Grissom AFB IN) into GIANT KILLER area using «238.1» reports he's going to meet up with DEUCE 47 (KC-10A, McGuire AFB NJ).
1906: BICEPs push U-7 and come up as expected on ZDC-Sea Isle NJ on «285.4» report at 10,000 feet VFR. BICEP 2 cleared off to get the ATIS reports and comes back saying he couldn't get it.
1911: TEAM 46 (KC-10A, McGuire AFB NJ) with McGuire Command Post on «319.4» talking about taking TEAM 45's mission with a KC-135 (and then got blocked by static).
1913: JEDI 52 (C-17, McGuire AFB NJ) with McGuire Command Post on «319.4» says he understands he's to cancel his current mission, report to Scott AFB, pick up a med crew and take them to Galveston.
1914: TEAM 45 and TEAM 46 chatting on interplane freq «139.875»
1917: JEDI 52 aircraft commander comes on line with McGuire on «319.4» to confirm the mission (guess he can't believe it). He repeats...go to Scott AFB, then Galveston TX, then Kelly (AFB, San Antonio TX) and take a crew rest or return to McGuire. Says he's working on a clearance to Scott at this time. (Methinks he's got an unhappy crew.)
1928: CAP flight buzzing around the area using «149.5375» to report his positions.
1937: PAT (US Army Priority Air Transport) to Andrews CP on «141.55» about to arrive at Andrews and wants to know if Andrews has any Space A pax for him on the return trip to Dobbins (AFB GA).
1938: TEAM 45 and 46 still chatting away on interplane «139.875» One of them is about to finish up refueling someone (didn't mention who) and then is done for the night and will descend to FL210 and the other will go to FL230. Since they know each other and are not using callsigns or suffixes, it's difficult to separate 45 from 46.
1945: CHENA 01 (KC-135R, 168th ARS AK-ANG Eielson AFB) reports airborne from Andrews on «378.1» and asks that that message be passed on to his home unit.
I'm guessing that callsign CHENA is taken from a hot mineral springs resort in Alaska by that name.
1947: DC 44 (KC-135 756th ARS Andrews AFB MD) checking into GK's area at FL220 on «135.725»
Tankers all over the place tonight. Now we just need some aircraft for them to refuel.
1952: DC 44 with GK on «135.725» reports into W-107 at FL 230 (rest blocked by static)

2019: The CAP flight gives a traffic report for the Bay Bridge and then says he's returning to base «149.5375» (I have no idea why I programmed this CAP mess in with the MilAir freqs. It reminds me I can use those 3 or 4 spaces for something better.)
2100 hour: First quarter of the hour has traffic on GK's «135.725» but is too weak and the freq is too noisy to copy any of it. Believe at 2119 I heard DC 44 still up there in W-107 area with GK. Confirmed - it is DC 44 working on the freq.
2200: DC 44 checks in with his squadron on «351.2» to say he's A-1, has about 18,000 pounds of fuel and will be flying until 2300 local.
2207: Evac 38021 calling Andrews Command Post on «378.1» two calls...no reply.
2209: Evac 38021 switches to «141.55» and makes contact. Says he's 30 minutes out, is A-1, has 12 SOBs - 5 crew members, 7 medical crew, needs airstairs and a K-loader to offload 3 PSP pallets, has 33,000 pounds of fuel and needs 20,000 when he lands plus latrine service and a parking spot...ground gives him 11-A for parking.

NOTE: For purposes of this daily log, I'm going to still refer to McGuire AFB even though it no longer exists. Officially, McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix Army Base and the Lakehurst Naval Air Engineering Station became a single super base entity. It's called - are you ready for this? - Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

1148: COSMIC 45/46 (F-16, NJ-ANG Atlantic city) with HUNTRESS on «260.9» for what looks like the start of a Combat Air Patrol over our area.
1200: Activity on GIANT KILLER's «292.3»
1204: Finally heard a transmission on CRAB Ops freq «385.9» It was an aircraft saying, "See you next tuesday." I assume it was one of the CRABs.
1205: SPEEDO 71 (F-15 Langley), flight of two, into GK's area on «249.8»
1206: The Northrup Gruman flight of two is active again today on «123.225» Heard them a bit earlier saying the trailer was going to hang out over Waterloo because the primary aircraft was having some kind of problem he needed to figure out before proceeding.
1218: COSMICs just given a BRAA by HUNTRESS - either to chase down an aircraft or simply an Alpha test of the DATALINK.
1220: COSMIC 45 tells HUNTRESS he wants to go back to original altitude (didn't mention specific) and says the winds aloft are much better at the lower altitude. Those high winds aloft have held down the training missions the past several days.
1255: The Northrup Gruman aircraft is doing some kind of test with the ground station that's apparently at BWI (based on signal strength). The aircraft keeps reporting "nose cold" and distances to some point. Ground asks the pilot to check with the guys in the back and see if the Aztec recorder is on...pilot responds, "Of course it is." «123.225» Ground says if he can't get the nose warm, the pilot should RTB. Pilot says they've tried it many times and can't get it to turn on and the nose remains cold. Ground says to RTB and pilot acknowledges. (This ground station, which is very loud and clear, sounds so much like THOR that controls the Customs OMAHA aircraft, that I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't him that was just working the freq.)

1304: The COSMIC aircraft just made a couple of short transmissions that were the first in about 30 minutes...very quiet flight. «260.9»
1317: Speaking of THOR...THOR calling OMAHA 1 and then reporting radar contact «282.425»
1318: THOR calling OMAHA 3 now on «282.425», gets him, and says he's loud and clear and has radar contact on him.
1333: COSMIC 46 heading for TANKER 06 to refuel «260.9» (Refueling didn't take place here on the primary freq and I wasn't able to find it.)
1356: The COSMIC aircraft are getting ready to land....they are using tac «138.2» and talking about runway 31. Not sure if there are replacements or whether the CAP is finished for now. The President was out and about today for various Veterans Day events and that might have been the bullseye rather than Camp David. One of those stops today was at the Tobyhanna Army Depot in Monroe County PA between events in D.C.

1404: COSMIC flight with ZDC-Kenton DE on «277.4» FL110 heading for home.
1407: COSMIC flight with Atlantic City Approach on «327.125»
1421: ???? 61 with HUNTRESS on «364.2» for mode check and also reports timber sweet.
1438: OMAHA 3 with U/I ground station being patched (very poorly) onto «165.2375» It's very loud but the patch is dropping just about every other word.
1448: REACH 3021 reports takeoff time as 1946Z to Andrews Command Post on «378.1»
1450: JOSA 971 calls SAM Command on «378.1» with no reply so changes to «141.55» and reports landing time will be 1515 local, is a home station C-21, tail #40077, is A-1, has 6 duty pax on board with one A-4, requests crew bus for 2 and wants the status of the ramp freeze.

1501: Air Evac 80057 calling Andrews Command Post several times on «378.1» with no reply.
1504: Air Evac 80057 finally makes contact just to give a heads up they are coming into Andrews with two Space A pax. «378.1» And then he gets no reply
1506: Air Evac 80057 switches to «141.55» to repeat the above and say he is A-1 and needs parking. Ground asks if he needs fuel and pilot responds it won't be until late tonight before they need gas.
1510: OMAHA 03 patched onto «165.2375» asks if there are any locals he needs to talk to and then says his time of arrival will be 15 minutes on the scene. (It sounds like he's going to an airport to check out someone/something. This patch suddenly came up on this freq with nothing preceding it so I have no idea what he's responding to.)
1513: Army 01053 to SAM Command a couple of times on «141.55» with no reply.
1516: ?Refueling? freq «303.0» has some weak activity going on
1518: Army 01053 calls a couple more times and finally sort of makes contact to ask 3-4 times about the ramp freeze. Ground station tells him there is no ramp freeze and 053 says he'll see him in a few minutes. «141.55»
1523: OMAHA 03 to THOR reports that he's 3 minutes from the scene. «165.2375» Can't hear the reply from THOR which is unusual but 03 then says since he's so close he might as well go take a look. He also reports tally-ho on the traffic that someone must have told him was in the air nearby.
1526: OMAHA 03 reports to THOR that he's overhead at this time and that the aircraft seems not to be damaged and that all personnel seem to be okay at the moment. «165.2375» (A plane crash perhaps?) Again I can't hear THOR on this freq.
1535: REACH 601T to Quantico Base Ops on «355.3» and reports he's a C-130 arriving in 20 minutes, has 4 pieces of rolling stock and 19 pax to download.
1536: OMAHA 03 tells THOR he's now over the Greenbelt check point and is going to go down the Anacostia River. «165.2375»
1540: OMAHA 03 reports he's at 500 feet over the Bay and is going to operate on Net 1 «165.2375»
1542: CAP 1804 reports over the Severn River Bridge to report traffic slowdown at the bridge but after that traffic is flowing smoothly. «149.5375» (No, I haven't taken these CAP freqs out of the scan rotation yet.)
1544: OMAHA 03 to THOR to tell him he's loud and clear but that he needs to hold down the mic button for a moment before speaking. (Age old complaint, eh?) «165.2375»
1546: OMAHA 03 tells THOR he tried to contact him on ??? but with the noise in the aircraft he couldn't hear him. (That ??? sounded like a system name rather than a frequency.) He also says he tried to contact THOR when he was on the ground with the aircraft and that the aircraft has a problem that needs to be repaired elsewhere. I guess he's talking about the downed aircraft he went to investigate earlier. «165.2375»
I haven't found anything on local news sources yet that indicate a plane crash today. The only news of a crash today was a Russian plane (IL-76) that went down in Afghanistan that the Taliban is taking credit for downing....eight dead on that one.
1600: END OF REPORT

Appreciate the 303.0 ID carbineone. I wonder if the 108th has gotten those updated KC-135R models yet. That's the unit that was going to be phased out and then a congressman or two got involved and not only saved the unit but got better planes. They are supposed to be equipped with 8 KC-135R models. The regular Air Force refueling unit there at McGuire has 32 KC-10A aircraft.

November 11, Veterans Day - originally Armistice Day (Name change in 1954)
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things;
the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse. A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Speaking of KBWI, where did the 123.825 frequency come from? Westminster arrival? Never heard of this one - at least for BWI. The ground station is not transmitting from BWI on this freq like the rest of the BWI TRACON freqs. Whoever added that one, fill me in please since I'm apparently ignorant of its usage.

I originally added 123.825 under BWI because that freq is associated with the WESTMINSTER FIVE Arrival, which is only listed as a valid Standard Terminal Arrival for BWI and not Dulles..

There was not a plane crash but an apparent emergency landing of a small a/c this afternoon - Potomac came up on Guard (121.5) and tried to get the pilot to go to a local landing field, but he ended up landing somewhere else instead. Some of the action was on 124.55; Potomac was trying to get another a/c (State Police fixed wing??) guided in to the site. I haven't heard of any injuries, except perhaps to the pilot's pride :.>> 73s MIke

Had REACH 365 going into Andrews using «378.1» about 1945.
2015: SWIFT 77 (C-21, USAF VIP aircraft, Scott AFB) reports departing Dover AFB on Command Post freq «349.4» at 0109Z

No doubt they're not around because Bush is not at Camp David this weekend....

Heck it gives us time to catch up on the freq lists - I know mine is a bit delinquent insofar as getting some of the new stuff Tinear and others have turned up. So don't complain :.>> 73s Mike

0948: Northrup Gruman Test Flight freq active «123.225»
0950: Refueling freq «123.525» active...two aircraft chatting - no callsigns used (The last and only time I heard this freq active was with Navy fighters doing hose and drogue refueling.)
0955: U/I flight enters GIANT KILLER's area using «238.1» sound like Langley F-15s
0956: Navy JS621 landing at Andrews «118.4»

1005: Langley tac freq «315.85» active
1010: DEFT 11 (Langley F-15) with ZDC-Snow Hill on «256.8» FL210 and wants to enter GK's area.
1014: SPEEDO 41 (F-15 Langley), flight of four, enters GK's area using «238.1» and says he'll be working with DEFT.
1016: DEFT 11 (flight of four F-15s) enters GK's area on «238.1» and says they's be MARSA with SPEEDO
1018: GK's ops freq «391.2» active
1020: RASTER 21 (F-15 Langley) flight enters GK's area using «238.1»
1021: GK's ops freq «312.3» active
1024: SPEEDO flight leader on «312.3» asks DEFT and RASTER flight leaders if they can make the bull (bullseye) at 1525. Then says at the bull from 1525-45. (Either the DEFT and RASTER flights are answering using other freqs or are just too low and distant to be heard.)
1027: DEFT flight leader announces "group cold" «312.3»
1029: Freq «123.525» still active but with just chat - no refueling talk heard yet.
1032: Navy fighter on Pax River's «310.55» says he's going to the tanker now.
1039: TESTER 24 (US Navy Test Pilot School, Patuxent River NAS) with BayWatch on «270.8» wants to be cleared for multiple touch and goes.
1039: Aircraft identified only as 473 w/BayWatch on «354.8»
1039: Aircraft identified only as 912 w/BayWatch on «270.8»
1045: Langley's tac freq «233.525» active with a flight of four
1048: SPEEDO 43, a flight of two, requests RTB from GK on «238.1» and needs a squawk...gets 0340
1049: SPEEDO 41, a flight of two, with GK on «238.1» says he wants to follow SPEEDO 43 flight to out of the area and RTB...no reply so changes to «249.8»
1048: JOSA 464 calling Andrews on «141.55»
1055: Aircraft on refueling freq «123.525» is the 473 mentioned at 1039 talking about a cloud layer at the assigned altitude and trying to decide whether or not to cancel the refueling...then switches to Pax River freq «277.0» where he states he'll not refuel

1103: TEAM 12 (KC-10A, McGuire AFB NJ) with another aircraft chatting on «238.9»
1106: PACER 95 with Andrews Approach on «119.3»
1109: CHALICE FOXTROT (E3B, Tinker AFB OK) British speaker to GK outlining mission he'll be controlling with HOCUS 81 and CAVE 71. Says HOCUS flight will work 292.3 and CAVE will work 373.1....flight of six (I think he means the combination of both HOCUS and CAVE). Also mentions a time of 1810Z but don't know if this is start or end of mission time. «249.8» HOCUS and CAVE are Langley F-15 callsigns.
1112: That 473 aircraft is switching around to various BayWatch freqs trying to justify to someone why he didn't go ahead with the refueling. «277.0/270.8/310.55» He's been at it for about 10 minutes now.
1113: CHALICE FOXTROT to GK on «249.8» mentions tanker will be TEAM 11 (KC-10A, McGuire AFB)
1117: JOSA 093 to SAM Command on «378.1» reports he's a home station C-21 with tail #40080, he's A-1, will arrive at Andrews in 15 minutes, highest D/V code on board is an A-7 plus 4, he'll spend an hour on the ground and needs 2,000 pounds of fuel...parking on 3 row?...nope, he's given 10 row. He will release 4 seats on the outbound flight
1119: CHALICE FOXTROT to GK mentions something about TEAM 12 (KC-10A) and STEEL 66 (KC-135 PA-ANG Pittsburgh) «249.8»
1121: U/I aircraft to Andrews Dispatch on «372.2» asks about the ramp freeze and when it will end.
1122: JOSA 685 calls SAM Command on «378.1» with no reply.
1124: CHALICE FOXTROT (female speaker) calls RAYMOND 16 (1st Fighter Wing) at Langley to ask if they can do a phone patch. Apparently told no and so ask if they know of any other station they can contact for that purpose. «251.25»
1150: OPEC 78 (KC-10A, McGuire AFB) with McGuire Command Post on «319.4» arriving in 30 minutes, A-1

1223: Navy JS791 to Cherry Point Base Ops on «126.85» mentions going to McGuire.
1234: DUKE 81 (probably F-16 flight from Langley by the ND-ANG Fargo...they use SPIDER for ops and DUKE for travelling) with ZDC-Linden VA on «319.1» leaving FL170 for 220....then cleared to 240 at 1236...and to 260 at 1238.
1238: REACH 1818 to SAM Command on «141.55» calls a couple of times and then makes contact to announce arriving Andrews 1800Z, is A-1, has 11 pallets and 4 pax to download, needs Customs and Ag to meet the plane and needs parking spot. Gave his tail number as 97-0047 (which is a C-17 according to the database)...gets parking spot 13-A.
