I don't have a Pro-197 but I assume someone here does and could send you the programming. The old and new main CC is 855.2625. I had word that the changeover to the new rebanded frequencies was May 23. Although it may be changed already or partly so. I have a 996XT and the active CC today is 855.2625 whether they are narrowbanded or not it's working for me. I have both the old and new CC freqs in mine.

It's very active at this moment...

What I dont understand is that my 996 was not functioning correctly, but my 396 was. I copied over the programing from the 396 to the 996, still no luck. I then had to change to a custom band plan. I cannot figure it out, but it seems like something is slightly off in the RR DB. So far it seems to work and my feed is live again. I have a feeling more things will change before this is all said and done.

Mike,

Did you make sure to put the custom band plan in like KWs noted above?

I reprogrammed my HP1 this morning, having already converted my 396XT a day or so ago. I did get some add traffic for a bit this afternoon. Rebanding is in progress, so there may be some hiccups along the way. Things seems to have returned to normal as of 4:30.

Well it was the perfect storm for me. The Twinsburg tower moved, the county rebanded, so I assumed my problems were related to these. I had time to take my scanner apart and 1 little wire to my antenna was loose. It works great now. Thanks to all for your help. If nothing else I learned a lot while troubleshooting this. Also thanks to jojo for the APD feed. I always listen when I'm not near my scanner.

I removed the custom band plan that was in the DB for Summit. It was messing with the import ability of some software packages. Most software understands the reband flag and sets the plan correctly.

If you need the details on what to set, see Software Support for Uniden Rebanding - The RadioReference Wiki.

That should clear up some of the monitoring issues people were having.

Anyone know what the MAC and MERC talkgroups are used for?

Are they listed in the Summit Co. database?

Yes, they are all listed in database.
MAC is used everyday regularly for mutual aid incidents / tactical ops both FD and PD.

MERC is used infrequent, mostly FD ops for large scale incidents like trench rescue.
I believe these TGs are going away, to be replaced with new TGs under rebanding. Don't know new TG IDS yet.

FYI new CC for rebanding went in effect today .. 857.9625.

Heard a Norton unit advise his supervisor that his portable radio displayed out of range and was making a long buzzing noise. Looks like someone forgot to reband that portable!

Would anyone mind posting a simplified version of programing a Pro-106 for the rebanded Summit County System? The rebanded setup posted on page 3 is a bit confusing to me, not sure what numbers go where in my scanner. It would be much appreicated.

If you are able to use the ARC software for your scanner (ARC-96 for my pro-96) it was pretty easy. There may be a way that is easier; I don't know anything compared to the other people on here. In the software, I just went to "settings" under the bank that I wanted to reband. After clicking on settings, go to "edit multi tables" at the bottom. When this opened, I clicked on "Load Reband Tables" then clicked OK and uploaded it to my scanner. Hopefully this will help you out a little bit but I'm sure that there is someone else on here that probably knows an easier way.

One note for everyone having problems even using a custom band plan and the new control channels. I've seen some Yahoo Group posts from users experiencing the open mike issue and comm bleed-over. There are two things to check:
1) make sure End Code is not being ignored (thanks JoeM)
2) make sure squelch isn't too low that the radio can't detect the end code (thanks UPMan)

I have the GRE-800 and tried updating the database and reprogramming the scanner. I live in Cleveland and used to pick up Summit Co., no problem. Now there's nothing. Does that have to do with the rebanding? Sorry for the novice question, but I am kind of new to this and rebanding.

I have a PRO-106 and was reprogramming it to receive the Summit system. It had also been programmed to receive the Start/Canton system. These are two seperate TSYS programmed into the scanner. I could not get the Summit system to work until I noticed when analyzing the summit frequencies that both 853.1125 was a control frequency along with 857.9625. 857.9625 when analyzed showed as Summit's control. 853.1125 when analyzed is Stark/canton's control frequency. I changed the 853.1125 in Summit's system to 851.0375 (just to make it different). Now I can receive both Summit and Stark/Canton. Per the DB 853.1125 is an alternete control frequency for the Summit system. Will this be a problem in the future?

Side note: when analyzing 851.0375 I heard morse code.
