Lansing, IL - PD has a tac channel on 155.040 (as listed in the RR database). When they go to that channel, I hear one of the automated weather channels with the PD at a much lower level underneath. I'm using a Uniden BC355N. I would appreciate any tips on how to filter out / separate the two signals.

Lansing freqy 155.04 has a PL of 156.7, I don't think that model scanner accepts PL's if it does using the PL would help.....

some questions

it could be intermod
is there a way to move the radio/antenna around to see if it changes?
does it ever change like sometimes it interferes and sometimes not?
different antenna even a paperclip to see what happens?
how far away are the transmitters from you?

wtp: The NOAA transmitter is in Lockport, IL - 37 miles away, Lansing IL is about 6 miles away. I doubt it's intermod, I'm only using the telescoping antenna that came with the unit.
RoninJoliet: I should have thought about the PL, thanks.

i went looking

the 355n does not have pl
and to add to the question it seems it is triple conversion (cuts intermod)
so i am at a loss as to what it is

Going to try another way

My best guess right now is that the NOAA audio is being used to mask the PD audio. I am going to dig out my old Azden 2 meter mobile, it will receive into the public service band. I'll set the PL and see if there is any difference, though I expect it won't be that easy. Lansing used to use a tone injection system for their tac channel, but it was easy to "decode" with a side tone injected into the audio (every cop in town had an add-on box for their scanner), so I expect some kind of audio filtering based on the NOAA audio may be needed.
