I ended up watching the t-birds from 29th and it actually was pretty good. I had a PRO 96 and a PRO 97 out there and both of them were busy...

The show was great still alot of people trying to get in even after, I was leaving the show. The only complaint about this year show was the static display seemed to be lacking compared to last years show. In modern military only B-1, B-52, E-3, E-6 (I believe it what the navy calls it), KC-135, C-17, C-130J, F-18 and a AV-8 Harrier. This seemed kind of short for Tinker they always have tons of great statics. Maybe next year will be better for static aircraft. The flying military acts were all good. The C-17 demo was really impressive. I kept sunscreen on and did not even get a little red and was in the sun most of the time.

Until the war is over, that is highly unlikely. The 135 came from the 507th across the way, Almost all the E-3s are home (who are stationed across the way as well). The B-52 and B-1 are depot jets and the C-130 was from Little Rock. It was kind of a make due with what you have situation this year.

I took about 400 pictures from my driveway, but due to the weather conditions and that the demo teams did low altitude performances, only about 60 were worth looking at. It was good that the C17 flew around some. I would have liked to see “Team Tinker” E3, E6, KR135 do more than just fly in circles, but I see them every day.

I attracted the attention of the neighborhood kids with their point and shoots, but they were more interested in listening to the scanner. I have never listened to the Thunderbirds radio before and one of the kids asked what the Thunderbird guy was singing. I didn’t have an answer because what I was hearing was not anything close what I expected. Can anybody point to a link that explains what the diamond leader is saying, and what all that carrying on means?

He is saying things like, "A little more pull..." to indicate to the other pilots to pull back a little more on their stick during a turn.; "Smoke, on, ready, now" and "Smoke, off, ready, now" to indicate the exact moment of smoke on and off; Since everything is done to a certain cadence, the timing of the speech indicates when and how much to do something.

If you ever get a chance to see a documentary on either the Thunderbirds or the Blue Angels, it goes into some pretty intersting things about this.

You oughta see the spool that it sits on...Both the primary and the secondary are huge. I wish my E-3 had those engines. CFM-56s are sweet!

Man was I ever late on this thread! I was there and got a lot of awesome pictures! I didn't take a radio though as I was in the wheelchair though. Having 5 boys with me doesn't always allow time for other things. We caught the Thunderbirds basically. Didn't get much else as we went late.

As for the Super Guppy, my 8 y/o Noah and I, saw that sucker several times a few months ago. We see pretty much everything coming in since we live right off of Reno and Midwest Blvd. I remember wondering what kind of plane it was and thinking I needed to look it up.

I know now, so thanks guys!

The Guppy is "supposed" to be ready to fly around September. It's an interesting aircraft...we are really tearing it apart! Basically, if it moves, it's coming off!
