Talkgroup names/labels/aliases OTA?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm wondering if talkgroups names/labels/aliases are transmitted over the air or is it just the talkgroup ID?

I'm decoding a lot of talkgroup IDs but I was hoping that some kind of name would also be sent OTA so one could make sense of what the IDs are pointing to.

For what type of system, P25?

The simple answer is "no", only the raw talkgroup and subscriber ID's are transmitted over the air. That answer applies to the vast majority of P25 systems out there.

The exception to that rule are Motorola ASTRO 25 systems at System Release 7.16 or newer, which have the capability to transmit the subscriber alias from Provisioning Manager over the air on the traffic channels (not the talkgroup alias, however). It seems that this feature is enabled by default for new installs at 7.16 or newer, but for 7.15 and older systems that were upgraded, the feature must be enabled within the system before it will work. Motorola APX subscribers with the Group Services option can decode and display those aliases. From what I've seen of the raw data, it appears that they're encoded in a format that only the APX series can decode, so neither software nor scanners would be able to do anything with that info.

There are some NXDN systems that will send the radio id name OTA, but not the TGID name.
