I have been trying to connect my Uniden BC 536 via Wi-Fi in Infrastructure mode to my home router for a few weeks with no luck. I have the latest dongle firmware of 7.28, I am able to see the network and I have verified that the password is correct (WPA2). I am starting to think that it may be an issue with the Spectrum modem/router as I am able to connect to my Iphone via wifi and also able to connect with Access Point mode. Any help would be appreciated.

I cannot speak for the unit as I do not currently own a 536HP, but what I can tell you is that any device that an ISP provides you, such as a modem, router, etc. is going to be garbage. They give you the cheapest crap possible and then want you to pay rent on it per month. As a techie I have seen more than my fair share of these nearly worthless pieces of equipment.

I have my own Modem and Router and have had no issues connecting anything to it or utilizing it in any way.

You are much better off springing for the higher end stuff. Additionally, when you own the equipment, you save money in the long run by not paying a monthly fee.

Do you get an error message when you attempt to connect?

With that said, I agree with the above comment, more or less. I use a Netgear router because the range is better. With the supplied device, I'm lucky to get coverage inside the house most places, but not outside on the deck, etc. The Netgear router fixed that.

Can you admin log on to your router from your computer and check settings? Try setting the routers log function to detailed mode that log everything and look in that after a 536 logon attempt. Could the router be set to TKIP security only or something like that? Check all setings in the router like maximum number of WiFi devices and b/g/n protocols and that you have DHCP enabled and that there are some lP numbers left to use.

If you have anyone who has a better modem/router than the junk their ISP provides, try connecting it to theirs and see if you notice any difference.

Do you have other devices that succesfully connects to your router using DHCP? It almost sounds as if the WiFi channel you are using in the router are interfered from other WiFi transmitters. It has to be 6 channels apart to not get interference or it will be better to use the same channel as the strongest one so that the two routers will be aware of each other and sync properly.

I haven't found any good free tool for iPhone, they all want money before you can test, but for Android I use the excellent Wifi-Analyzer from Farproc to check how the channels are populated.
