Unknown about Gorilla Glass being considered.

The display at 100% in direct sunlight can be seen clearly in black and white mode.

See attached for Keypad backlight.

WOW! And I thought the 436 displayed a crap ton of info on screen. Nothing compared to the SDS100

Paul...been a few days since I wired that money over to your Swiss Bank Account...just checking the status on that one.

On a serious note...I informed my wife of the SDS100...hopefully that makes the father's day list. I'd like to be set up and ready for our trip to the Cape in early August!

Also any chance you could slightly widen the case, make the screen 3D, include a pedometer, make it play mp3s, and have it cost 80 bucks.

So...what are the odds that we can get some MDC1200 decode on this lil gem?
my 436 has PV..DMR...NXDN...but still cant seem to read that pesky analog MDC12....

it is very clear to me that uniden is trying to make more money bye making everyone buy
a new battery pack at some point down the road or buy a back up one one when we buy this radio
just build a better radio not just a upgrade of the 436hp which is what this is i am looking at the
other radio for the next buy and none of them make me buy a battery pack
bad move uniden i have 15 of your radios not this time

The reason is found in the second to last word in your post. Analog. We get unit IDs and aliases, etc., from digital systems because that data is part of the digital signal that is decoded. What you're asking is to have the scanner monitor each and every analog transmission listening for a specific digital data burst, capture it, process it, and then display it, all without affecting the audio. That's a lot more involved than say CTCSS.

A little confused here. So I take it the SDS100 doesn’t use AA batteries but has its own battery? I just watched ScannerMaster live feed on his way to the Hamvention and he said something about using the GPS to power or charge the radio. Can someone clarify the battery. Can you use and charge at the same time?
Thanks

While this may have already been answered downstream what we said is that the special cable (Previously introduced for the 325) will power the radio and the GPS from a single USB power source. The cable has 3 ends, an S connector for the GPS puck, a USB Mini to pug into the radio and a USB-A to plug into a power source such as the USB port on the vehicle. It could also be used with one of those battery packs marketed for phones that provide a USB power jack.

This is neat since it reduces the cable clutter one has with the 436.

I may want one of those. Do you have a URL where I can get one?

Upman has posted videos from Texas and other states. Read, then post.

Philly and Maryland were the two others that I saw. Were there others?

I would have liked to have seen a Phoenix-Mesa area video or 2, given the LSM issues with the Regional Wireless Cooperative (RWC, Phoenix) and the TOPAZ RWC (Mesa).

Upman posted some stuff from Texas, Ft Worth area IIRC. Every area tested has difficult-to-monitor simulcast systems.

LSM is LSM is LSM is LSM, whether it's in Ohio, Florida, California, or your back yard.

LSM in Myrtle Beach with my 396XT performed almost flawlessly. In Ohio it crumbles pitifully. There's no way to know how any radio will work in any location until you get reports from that location.

Is there any information out there about the recording quality that's built into the scanner?

Does it record in WAV or MP3 format? What's the KHz and kbps, etc.?

LSM in Myrtle Beach with my 396XT performed almost flawlessly. In Ohio it crumbles pitifully. There's no way to know how any radio will work in any location until you get reports from that location.

And there are places in Myrtle Beach where your scanner would perform as it does in Ohio and places in Ohio where it would work perfectly.

The underlying technology used in the SDS-100 ensures it will perform the same in similar environments tens, hundreds, or thousands of miles away.
