Starting a new thread in the statewide forums in the hopes that people outside the Bay Area can help nail down some of the unknown sites on this system. System seems to be designed for Northern California / Central Valley coverage:

Chances are this is another USMS system similar to the one we have in the NY Metro area. Although the USMS is the owner of the system, other federal agencies are also using the system and have their own talkgroups provisioned. Full time AES-256, to no surprise.

Edit...I take that back, it's not the USMS, but it is very similar to the one we have on this coast. Happy hunting!

I saw some ICE budget request documents online a few weeks ago that made reference to a "TACCOM" system in the San Francisco area that, may be this system. It also mentioned systems in Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Miami, Tampa and New Orleans. The budget requests were for funding to expand the system to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It says the system "will minimize redundancies and/or communications gaps that exist between DHS components and other Federal, State, and local partners."

It's also possible this TACCOM is something completely different.

Scannerboy02, I concur with your conclusions.

I also have seen some information on the 4D5 system being managed by ICE and used by ICE, CBP and other DHS agencies in the region.

Site 70 (Mt. Saint Helena) is showing a new frequency of 173.550 as 10-3004 which has been submitted to the DB.

I have also seen a TG of 113 come up multiple times today with RID 6613038.

I've updated the neighbor lists and locations for all the known sites, and I'd like to propose the following for the unknown sites:

Site 71 - Mt. Oso
Site 72 - San Benito Mountain
Site 79 - Mt. Bullion

I also believe Site 66 may be Black Mountain (SLO, next to the Paso Robles FAA radar site), and Site 83 may be Mt. Rose (NV, North Tahoe). If anyone in these areas can monitor and confirm, that would be awesome.

Early this morning Site 70 had TG's 10 and 12 show up with similar RID's as before.

Just a small update that I've noticed the last few days...This is all heard off the Mt Saint Helena site via DSD+FL

Mt Tam, Mt Diablo, Mt Vaca, Big Signal Peak (Mendo Co), and Site 84 all report ISOLATED/Site down status and then back up shortly thereafter. Site 84 shows "Info Outdated" as well.

Various TG's and RID's have shown up on Mt Saint Helena the last few days, including TG 149. No actual talking, just affiliations or rejections.

I can report nothing heard in LA, OC, and parts of Riverside and San Bernardino. Unknown areas include anything north/east of the Inland Empire.

... and not most of the high-level sites in San Diego County, based on a survey a few weeks ago from up high in Fallbrook. Imperial County is an unknown as well.

I'm fairly confident Site 83 is Mt. Rose. It's pretty weak in South Lake Tahoe, then very strong at higher elevation on Tahoe Mountain with good line of sight to Mt. Rose. Anything on the Placer County side of the lake should come booming into SLT.

I just drove Highway 101 from the Bay Area to Santa Barbara and never picked up sites 85 or 66, so I’m not sure where they are.

85 might be on the coast (maybe Big Sur?) and 66 might be further inland.

A friend picked up Site 66 from I-5 near Bakersfield, so it could be McKittrick Peak.

Site 85 is becoming a bigger mystery. It doesn't seem to be along the Highway 1 or 101 corridors. Neighbors are Loma Prieta, Fremont Peak, and Williams Hill.
