SNIP from Cherokee Scout Article:There is currently only two licenses in Cherokee County for VIPER and one location, the Joanna Bald site is actually in Graham County, despite what RR database says. Not having read the Cherokee Scout article my guess is these are future expansions not yet in the works, since licenses are usually issued a year or so in advance.

Funny that the county manager thinks that VIPER is not digital
In my opinion they will need a site for sure near the state line and county line with polk county tennessee possibly and perhaps one near the monroe county Tennessee state line say around the violet community and hiwassee damSNIP from Cherokee Scout Article:

Looks like they plan on using the Rocky Top site (WRFL767) in Union County Ga as one of the four; according to the article in the Scout.
Notice of Approved Vendor Radios for use on North Carolina VIPER Statewide Radio System for the period 1 January – 31 December 2023
My apologies, I haven't seen this posted before. This is the new list for 2023. I've seen the 2022 list posted but not this new one. This was posted before but thank you for reminding people it exists.
Doesn't DOT still use low band a lot? They all still have low band antennas on the trucks.
Just to be clear SHP has zero low band capability. All of the low band equipment has been removed from the comm centers and all of the patrol cars. IMAP uses VIPER to talk to the troopers.NCDOT continues to use low band and probably will on maintenance units for the foreseeable future. Lot of dollars to replace radios throughout division that they may not have funding for. IMAP uses them to communicate with SHP Communication Centers and troopers
It's like having a drivers license but not owning a vehicle. Just cause you got it don't mean you are using it. NCSHP Lowband is dead and gone. R.I.P. KIB898For the record, all low band licenses are still active as they were renewed last year
I just replaced all of our dispatch level equipment and they have 207XXXX ID's. I also have a block assigned to us our of the OEMS block so that may be why. I can tell you more about that in a week or so...Thank you. As for FW Dispatch, I think they are trying to move as many dispatch centers to the 2499xxx range as possible. I updated the Wiki.
I can tell you as someone who is very close to VIPER and how SHP operates, that SHP doesn't use low band at all, anymore, anywhere, period end of story. IMAP may have it in their trucks, but SHP does not. All of the low band equipment has been permanently removed from all towers and comm centers along with all patrol cars. Also, the radio shops don't have nearly the visibility of the infrastructure as they once did. They do installs. The infrastructure piece has been centralized.IMAP has both VIPER and DOT low band on all the trucks. For the record, all low band licenses are still active as they were renewed last year per source at radio shop for SHP., Emergency Management and some other services
