My photo shows Talk Group 52200 but sometimes the display will indicate 52202 also. I believe this is because all Troop G traffic is dispatched out of Newton. I listen by unit numbers to tell where the traffic is from.

Thanks. I have to do that also. I wish there was some way to just hear the Cherokee County units, and not the other areas.

@pnutheadedd -You should try the Hayesville site also. My contact in the Cherokee County Fire says they plan to use it also when they switch over to VIPER in the future. Also be looking out for the future Hothouse site in the West of the county.

Well, you just might have solved my problem with this. I see that the Hayesville site is broadcasting on the 700 freq band. My poor old pro-2096 doesn't receive that band.

Close to impossible with other areas affliating with the tower as they travel and cross patches between troops.

if you only want to hear cherokee units just put them in the scan list and thats all you will hear and put only cherokee units in all the towers that you could possibly here being 1 site per scan list with only the units you want to here

TRP C HQ TG 52166 is using encryption today, unsure if they are now E or e, but it is being used. SHP AIR TG 52127 also has e capabilities. Neither are listed in database as having encryption capabilities. Wondering if other people are hearing this trend in other areas of the state.

The HQ groups in each Troop were encrypted about a year ago.

Not totally correct I heard them this morning in the clear, I continue to believe it is a small e but I'm sure things will change over the next few years. As for SHP Air, they have two radio channels (with same TG) one in the clear the other encrypted and they switch between them.

You may have heard air in the clear. Troop HQ's are no longer in the clear,

But I heard it, that's why I left it. Not trying to say he is wrong or argue, but mistakes are made, just like I heard a VIPER tech one time in the clear. Sorry @jthorpe if you took it the wrong way.

You sure you're hearing traffic on the HQ groups? They're hardly ever used and yes all traffic should be encrypted, in fact they were renamed to "Troop A, B ,C etc Secure."

North Carolina is pretty fast about getting a site up and going aren't they I will put theses in my scanner and start listening for the control channel
