Can APX6000XEs Not decrypt the system? We use them all the time but my knowledge tops out around about here, as this is a new system for all of the fire guys.

Unless they are buying radios for all the fire depts, I dont see them going encryption for all the fire depts.
What exactly does this mean? All the FDs already have radios and have been operating on digital 3600 for years. All those radios can handle encryption just fine.

They will under certain circumstances, but you had better have written permission from the agency using the encrypted channel or that is a federal offense.

I believe Wake County/Raleigh Fire has permission to be on their system, that is what @PKnight56 was referring to.

As EMS uses VIPER on a regular basis, and other Wake agencies use VIPER as backup and sometimes on the SW TGs, VIPER has said all radios on the system must be P25 P2 capable by 2025, so radios that are not will need to be replaced anyways. The process of updating radios has been ongoing in Wake County for years.

Over the past two days, yesterday afternoon and early this morning, voice traffic on the system has been taking place.

This morning it sounds like GoWake, the interesting thing is they seem to be using old UID/RIDs (33xxx) not the 183xxxx or 184xxxx, these RIDs belong to GoWake on the old Wake TRS system. They are using TG 46998.

Same thing yesterday afternoon on TG 46990 however the RIDs matched GoRaleigh buses on the old TRS system.

The early morning comms of GoWake have been replaced by GoRaleigh with an additional talkgroup of 46991 GoRaleigh Ch 2,

Though you may not be interested in listening to the buses, it's a great time to check your reception and make sure the system is programmed correctly. As a side note, we still don't know for sure this will be the final control channel, and we do know they'll be adding more voice channels, so expect changes before it is fully in operation.

As system testing continues for the new Wake Co P25 TRS, it appears a few agencies are now being simulcast on the system full time.

The Wake County GSA Security officers are using TG 46870 with a range of RID/UIDs between 1841390 to 1841434 (I'm sure there are more, this was the monitored range). While not verified/monitored I'm betting 46871, 46872, 46873, 46874 and 46876 are also WC GSA Security TGs.

Also GoRaleigh busses are using TG 46990 (GoRaleigh Ops 1) and 46991 (GoRaleigh Ops 2) with a RID/UIDs between 1837538 and 1837607 (Again, I'm sure there are more, this was the monitored range). Several units are using the old RID/UIDs and/or a mix of new old, the old was in the 6000 range.

GoWake is using TG 46998 and still using the old RID/UIDs in the 6000 range.

As of now the Control Channel is still 853.9625 with only a total of eight frequencies on the system. I'm sure that will soon grow.

I am monitoring in Southern Wake County to the Wake County tower, not the Fuquay Tower. I have 18 frequencies. Control is 853.53750. NC Viper has been very difficult to lock into lately but Wake is strong as ever. Using Unitrunker with DSD. Wake County Sheriff Dispatch is garbled most of the time but all other TGs come in loud and clear. My BCD325P2 has no issues with Viper or Wake.

You are listening to the current Wake County Motorola Type II system, what this thread talks about is the new Wake County P25 TRS that is still in the testing/startup phase.

Sorry, I will just not post anything in the future. I seem to get my head bit off every time I post something.

I wasn't so sure at first because it was EMS and RFD dispatched to the same calls but I heard them dispatch chief 200 for EMS system status???

Seems to be a combination of EMS and Fire. I think we need to listen more, I crossed checked with the Wake Type II system.
