Has anyone seeing those cell phones the manager's use? Not the ones that connect with a commercial tower, but the kind that have tiny repeaters placed around the store? By the size of the antennas they look like they are at least 800mhz. I went into a walmart with a 246 and cc auto store hidden in my pocket but never picked up anything.

Are you sure they're cellphones? I know some stores here that use cordless phones in intercom mode, could be one of them, since they often come in 800/900/2400 bands.

I'm not sure if they are "cell phones" per se, but physically they are similar to the old school flip out phones.

here in halfmoon NY its 154.570 just confirmed it
they think there big with their little 1 watt radioshack portables, they hang them directly on the back of their pants and let it "waddle" as they walk and turn volume way up.
someday I want to hang an XTS off my pants and let them see

Hi there. I work for wally world p/t and have wondered what frequency walmat used. I collect shopping carts and wanted to listen to managment. I had tried the 600 frequency and had no luck. Then put the 570 frequency in and someone was talking. I just bought a new BC92XLT handheld, which seems to work fine for it's size, but either those XTM's walmart use's are weak or the building hampers their signal. I've noticed even these HT1250 walkies the police and other agencies use don't work as well inside some buildings. Someone mentioned Walmart going digital. Humm?, one day maybe.

The reason that the signal is week is because at most the XTM's will only Transmit 1 to 2 wats output.

Walk up to some random employee and say "Code Adam in aisle xx"

Is there really an FCC reg about spanish? you should hear FRS/GMRS in Laredo & McAllen/Brownsville/Padre Island in Texas

that would be pointless... code adam is a the universal page for a lost child. it is used in the following context:
(this is just an example of how to use it)
"ATTENTION ASSOCIATES: CODE ADAM. SMALL HISPANIC CHILD ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD. WEARING A BLUE SHIRT AND RED SHORTS. LAST SEEN IN SPORTING GOODS."

this page is repeated two times, at which time employees monitor all doors and exits and comb the floor searching for a child matching that description. if the child is found, the child is then taken to the fitting room or customer service. if the child is not found within 10 minutes, management is required to call the cops to the store.

also, you forgot to list one page code: "Assistant manager arthur"
it is a fake name to page management to an unknown emergency or extreme shoplifting without alerting the customer or person involved

At the Wal-Mart I work at in Glasgow, KY if you hear them page RITA LYNN to xxx. they are requesting security and management for something. Or on 3rd shift if you hear CODE CLEAR they are requesting any available associates to the parking lot to bring in carts.

displays her XV radio and turns it to full blast, even before she gets into the store, as shes is showing off and being tough ****
it funny how much they think they are with them. but i'm happy for them, they work for walmart, i just smile and pass on

Here's One...

If you happen to live in Las Vegas, you can listen to Cornestone Crossings Apartments (Rainbow/Washington) on 154.600 if you're close. They use Motorola portables and much of the discussion is clearly not in English, if you get my drift. I can't say for sure about the local Walmart stores, though I suspect you'll find them on 154.600/154.570...

That's funny, my local Wally Mart is also on 151.625, but they use these secret service type earpieces.

because it came up.. yes the digital they are using is not compatable with digital scanners, (not P25), it would seem moto is going with some kind of DSS for those types of radios.

Some of there stores use the Motorola DTR FHSS radios. They are digital and use VSELP. I own a pair. They are good for bad RF propagation environments, like on cruise ships, but other than that they are just average. Average voice quality and noticeable vocoder latency. One cool thing is they use frequency hopping to eliminate interference and eavesdropping. The frequency hopping has a 400ms dwell time so its hopping pretty damn fast.
