ØÆSØ Say it, say 'ENCRYPTION'
It is from the Harris radiosI hope that "crappy audio" is for the 'bottom barrell' harris stuff because all I get here is how good the KENWOOD's sound.

Now I'm curious - is that only occurring with the lower-tier Harris portables? Our Province wide Harris system has a ton of fire agencies running Kenwood/EFJ as well. We'll at least the ones that don't buy the bottom barrel Harris radios. Always easy to tell those users by the really crappy audio.
You cannot program any trunking systems into the radio without the appropriate ESD/ESK present. If you have that, there is no limit to what you can scan. That is the only caveat.I would be an "authorized user" and not trying to "passive scan" but regardless, I would still like a correct answer.
Ok, will it *scan* 700/800 P25, and VHF, UHF NXDN, DMR and Analog?
This is all relevant to the title of this whole thread
I have this little blue USB dongle that has Viking molded into the housing that I plug into my computer whenever I'm programming Viking radios. Just like I have a little blue USB dongle that has batwings molded into the housing that I plug into my computer whenever I launch APX CPS.And how did you manage to get the key?
Actually it has an "i" on itI have this little blue USB dongle that has Viking molded into the housing that I plug into my computer whenever I'm programming Viking radios. Because they have no audio shaping capabilities. Now I'm curious - is that only occurring with the lower-tier Harris portables?
I'm mainly curious whether it's an issue with all current Harris portables or just the XL-45/95P low-tier models. The one Harris-equipped jurisdiction in my local area has awful shrill audio; Motorola and Kenwood gear sounds noticeably more natural.Because they have no audio shaping capabilities.
Functionally though when you are scanning two different systems, whether it be two trunked systems or a conventional and trunked system, you are doing NAS.Actually it has an "i" on it
I was trying to make the point that if you have a legitimate key, theres no point in doing NAS. At that point its just scanning trunking for whatever youre authorized for
I see what you mean, yesFunctionally though when you are scanning two different systems, whether it be two trunked systems or a conventional and trunked system, you are doing NAS.
Honestly, I can't remember.I'm mainly curious whether it's an issue with all current Harris portables or just the XL-45/95P low-tier models. The one Harris-equipped jurisdiction in my local area has awful shrill audio; Motorola and Kenwood gear sounds noticeably more natural.
Scanning two trunked systems, does the radio only affiliate with one system, so it's NAS for the other? What if you need it to affiliate with both to ensure that the site carries the talkgroup you need to hear?Functionally though when you are scanning two different systems, whether it be two trunked systems ... you are doing NAS.
Why?... or a conventional and trunked system, you are doing NAS.
Registering/affiliating to multiple sites/systems/platforms would considerably increase the time spent on each one and would make scanning between them next to useless. I have no idea how this radio works, but I'd highly suspect and hope it doesn't do that.Scanning two trunked systems, does the radio only affiliate with one system, so it's NAS for the other? Yeah – it certainly couldn't go through a whole register/affiliate handshake with each system before moving on to the next system. I thought it might register/affiliate once with each system and then just listen to each CC long enough to get the current status info for the non-CC channels.Registering/affiliating to multiple sites/systems/platforms would considerably increase the time spent on each one and would make scanning between them next to useless. Don't know if id go that farOf course it does a great job, it's a KENWOOD !
Ok.I would.
Yes, they do make good stereo equipment!Of course it does a great job, it's a KENWOOD !
