Has anyone compared the Winradio 305 to Icom's PCR2500?
Any "quick conclusions?, opinions? pros & cons?
Thanks

One outstanding difference is that the Icom R2500 series is two receivers in one.

I have both radios. The WinRadio 305 is a better SW and HF radio IMHO. The Icom is a better scanner, better radio UHF, and up.
I find I use my 305i/PD increasingly. I love to monitor Ute and Ham radio. The WinRadio has more filtering options than then Icom.
Have to admit, the PCR2500 and TrunckPCR is a great combination for trunk and scanning monitoring. The Icom software is very good also.
I'm waiting for the P25 software to be released by WinRadio shortly. If the P25 decoding is equal too or better than the Icom’s, I will sell one of these units after my testing.

I do like the look of that G305. Vince - maybe you can answer this. Do you feel that the receiver, being on a PC card, is more susceptible to computer interference than a standalone radio that would be sitting next to a computer? Just curious what your opinion is.

Thanks

Thank you Vince..
Since I have plenty of other HF & non-scanner stuff, my prime interest is in the P25, trunking, scanning areas.
Your remarks help alot.

No, I have had both the PCR2500 and WinRadio tuned to the same 40-meter armature band and both sounded the same.
I'm sure in some frequency range, this does take place, but I have yet experience it yet. I thought about that allot before I purchased the G305i. One thing that is imperative, you must use the best sound card you can afford for the WinRadio. It makes a big difference. However, I like the G305. If the P25 software is good, I just might sell my PCR2500. I will report my findings when it is released.
