Looks like the frequencies for Simulcast Cell A (Urban) will be; 460.25, 460.35, 460.45, 460.55, 460.025 and 460.125 and and Simulcast Cell B (Rural) will be: 453.05, 453.175, 453.4125, 453.55, 453.65 and 453.75

ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Trunked License - WQZS950 - ERIE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY

(The emission on the license are listed as Phase I, not Phase II. Not sure what that's about.)

I see the emission designator column, but how do you tell it's showing Phase I? If that's the case, I can try to get more info from the 911 Director if needed.

The portable and mobile radios for the new system have arrived this week. Users are being trained on them and the radios are being installed in vehicles. Not sure if scanner listening will be affected now, but I think things won't sound different until the new system is activated next summer.

Here's the latest update from the 911 Center:
"Our project team is continuing the early deployment, installation of subscriber
equipment (mobiles, portables) to our first responders. The contracts have been
awarded for the microwave system, tower steel, equipment shelters, and emergency
generators. The bid(s) will be released by the end of January for the tower
construction of eight new tower sites. The factory acceptance testing on the
radio system has been scheduled for the week of February 19-23, 2018 at EF
Johnson's Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Key staff members from the
Department of Public Safety, MCM Consulting Group and EFJ will be on site to
conduct the testing.

There will be additional public meetings, providing our first responders and the
general public a project update as to the progress towards implementation of the
Next Generation Public Safety Radio System."

Another update from the 911 Center:
"We are continuing with the early deployment of subscriber equipment (mobiles, portables) to our first responders.

The contracts have been awarded for the microwave system, tower steel, equipment shelters, and emergency generators. The bid(s) for the tower construction were opened by the County Controller on March 16th, and have been awarded to Perry Construction and Keystone Electric. The construction of towers is expected to begin on or about April 9, 2018.

The factory acceptance testing on the radio system was conducted the week of February 19-23, 2018 at EF Johnson's Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. After a successful test procedure, the radio system (infrastructure) has been staged at our facility (Flower Road). We anticipate conducting coverage testing by September; immediately following with the transition of our first responders over to the new radio system. The project completion date is December 31, 2018.

There will be additional public meetings scheduled this spring to provide our first responders and the general public a project update."

Thank you Scnrfrq for the updates. I have heard conflicting information about the completion date of this project since its beginning. Now I guess the big question is encrypting.

Yes, hopefully they'll go easy on that. At the last public meeting they said it was up to each agency, so we'll see.

Checked out the new tower being built on Westlake Road behind the Fairview Fire Dept. It is tall! Much bigger than I expected. Looks like the tower is complete, but still needs the antennas. I understand all towers have to be done by 7/31. 8 new towers and 7 being rehabbbed.Testing begins in the fall.

Now that I locked out all the PSP encrypted channels, I'm not hearing anything in Erie County. I used to at least hear the Game Commission once in awhile. Is anyone else hearing anything in Erie?

Other than PA GC and some PennDot from Warren, it is rather quiet for Erie, Warren, Crawford.

All of the towers were supposed to be built by the end of July. I tried to get an update from the 911 Center to see if they were on schedule. No response yet. I'll post if I learn anything.
