So weird that I’ve never seen any of these ads you all are so upset about…lol. Life is too short to spend this much time getting this upset about such a silly topic. There’s an easy and supportive way to never see another ad while using this site. Time is money and wasted time is too stressful and frustrating. I hate ads, and I appreciate using clean, well organized web services. I just buy the premium subscription and get on with my life! It’s not a lot of money, I get some extra perks, and I don’t have to see ads. Sounds good to me!

Speaking of blocking things...gotta love the IGNORE feature of the Xenforo forum software. I'm subscribed to this thread not only for the sheer entertainment value from all of the crybabies, but also to build up my steadily growing list of ignored members! 😘

I just want to see how long this thread goes before it finally dies

There are sites they been doing this for awhile. If you have a ad blocker you can't even view a story or picture. Weather.com is one of them you can't view anything.

This pretty much proves the case for ad blocking. Ads are intrusive and malicious. How could a reasonable person expect anyone to tolerate this?

I have to agree with this. I am also experiencing the whole page being blocked by an ad and are unable to click out of it sometimes. I consider THAT malicious software as well. If it were an ad that just sat on the page and did not block functionality it's fine, but this one is akin to those pop-ups that want money to restore your computer and won't go away unless I close the tab. This happened a while back and it was taken care of, but now it is back - why?

Ha - I just had the pleasure of seeing a few of these full page ads on this site, I wonder if they're new? This one was especially shady looking (what the heck does "Product for Telecommunication. Enterprise spirit, honesty, cooperation, pragmatism and innovation" even mean??) and the only way to get rid of it was actually clicking "Open" since the "x" button on the pop-up was nonfunctional.

Ya that’s a bummer. I get those sometimes when I’m not signed in… I can click anywhere in the blurred area around the ad and it goes away. Are you unable to do that?

Yeah normally clicking outside the pop up window closes these ads, but not this time for some reason. It's all almost like a forced click through to boost ad metrics?

Shady tactics are employed out of desperation, when a government, company, organization, group or individual is not getting a desired outcome.

The next step is to transfer blame and/or responsibility. "I don't control the army", "We don't control the supplier", "We don't control the ad network", "We weren't the only ones there", "I'm not the only one doing this", "Nobody told me"...etc, etc.

I'm here a lot
Almost a year ago it was stated that gatekeeping measures would be implemented to limit the free users employing ad blocking tactics. The ads intrusiveness should be of no surprise.

You understand that the recent comments in the thread have more to do with crappy, shady, suspicious and nefarious ad content and very little to do with the ad blocking countermeasures, right?

Like a lot of folks I have several computers and devices all with several browsers, and I'm not always logged in everywhere to every site. It's not too a big deal to sometimes see the ads. It's rare, and even more rare that I actually click. I my keep machines safe from all the nonsense behind half of the ads all over the internet. At least they're obvious here lol. Some sites integrate the ads with actual site content very deceptively.

Wrong

The next step is that we're going to eventually transition away from advertising as a source of revenue.

If you find this business and it's content and community a place that you value, you WILL BE supporting this site. 😜💪🤷‍♂️

When the ad does not close, I just dump the page and forget about what I wanted to check out because it's not worth clicking on it and potentially downloading a self executing virus. So the result is the site showed me one ad, but they lost out on showing me the other 40+ that I would have seen had the first one not blocked the whole page. Did they really get anything out of it? Yes, they got ONE ad in before I left the site entirely, and they lost out on 100% of the revenue that would have been generated from the following pages. The page blocking is a lose/lose format in my opinion because I simply exit out, and as a result of that experience I tend to visit the site less and look at less pages. It's a self fulfilling prophesy where in an attempt to raise revenue only serves to drive away regular users, which results in less income. I know I used to click on some ads, but currently I don't even see them because I now visit the site much more infrequently and click on only a couple pages, that's if I don't exit out in frustration first.

Guess we'll see. 🤷‍♂️

In the meantime, it's the ad network's fault that interstitial ads designed to bamboozle people are being served on your site. Makes sense.
