I’m still holding out for classic keypad lock… Func+PWR/Light. Cooome ooooon already. The amount of times I’ve accidentally switched channels attempting to change the volume during a heightened call is insane.
Edit: Also… it still haunts the 100’s customize display area. 54D0AA44-1AA6-449D-9FF7-01131E201149.jpeg

I believe it is on the wish list, to select if channel change or volume should be the default mode for the selector knob, in the same way most professional portable radios offer in its programming, as well as a selection of what features should be keypad locked besides the keypad.

Its almost worth another thread to relist the SDS100/200 and BCD436/536 wish list for any future FW upgrades. We could even mention if and how much we would be prepared to pay for that particular item(s).

Ehhh, I think I wouldn’t go that far considering there are some features on legacy models that came on-board that were removed and/or forgotten about on new “flagship” models. I’m not big of a complainer though, I just want good old fashioned keypad lock back on the 100. That’s honestly one of the biggest drawbacks for EDC that I opt for my 396 over the 100.

I would say that the lack of audio AGC in SDS scanners are a big issue. Even if was as subtle as in 436/536 it would help but best would be adjustable attach/release/level as in BCT15.

Here is real out in left field thought. Maybe Uniden could redesign the whole exterior of the SDS200? Remove that stupid unused LAN port from under the squelch control. Add in a larger wider display?. The internal electronics can remain the same but the exterior would be a lot more pleasing to look at.

It seems to me that even if the LAN port were removed (or moved to the back - my preference), there's still a lot of things in the way before you could extend the display.

DEFINITELY agree that the LAN port should be in the rear. It's just plain in the way as designed, as is the micro-USB port.

Is it too much to ask for an option that rids the world of that dreaded 'SITE HOLD' bug when using number tags to navigate to certain trunked systems. Although I can't seem to pin down what exactly makes this happen. I think it has something to due with location-based scanning in some way, but I'm not sure. Regardless, it's annoying.

The water fall display is a spectrum display of all signals + or - a couple of megahertz from the center frequency (the frequency you are on). The huge advantage is that it will show any RF activity in that area. If the signal is DMR it will show, if its a short TX it will show etc. The other advantage is that the signal shows for a period even after it stops transmitting. This allows you to dial the current frequency over to where the other frequency was and than monitor then frequency for activity and identification. Look at some of the SDR screen captures in any search engine and you will get a good feel for how they function.

I hope it will be that advanced, it probably can't listen while in spectrum mode as that will need a lot of CPU power, but quickly storing the frequency to quick save memory and instantly listen to it with band defaults, and allow to go back to spectrum display.

It would need the selector wheel to have an accelerate mode, where turning it slowly will do band default steps and turning it faster will do bigger steps the quicker you turn, or it would be hopelessly slow to tune to a peak.

Perhaps each click of the selector jumps to the next peak on the display that are above a certain level, lets say -100dBm, when peak hold are set to something like 10 sec.

It could also help if it had a button to freeze the display and then go to each peak, perhaps zoom in for greater details, and save to a quick save memory department reserved for spectrum saves.
