Why does the RR DB still list every town as "in the clear" and makes no reference to anything being encrypted??

The database list no talk groups for the new system yet. Folks are still working on which talk group is which I suppose. The analog system is still somewhat active and yes its in the clear. The wiki for the new system with talk groups is here. These are active but unconfirmed talk groups.

Yeah I know this stinks well it was fun scanning while it lasted least we still have a few other counties to listen to.

I'm still getting county wide zone 2 & 4
all I listened to was zone 3
is there anything on state police or is that encrypted too

State police is not encrypted, they're on their on system. You can still listen to them.

Insider Input

Hey guys, pretty new here to the forum side. But as an insider with a county FD, we had training today on the new 700mhz radios, and we the FD, cant even hear the PD with the radios. Everyone is fuming over it too. We were told Fire and EMS should be switching over within the next 60 days or less.

Think if we make a big stink about it they will remove the encryption for normal police calls?

Howdy 101, I hope this is brought up at the next Chiefs Assoc and County Firemans Assoc. meetings. How many fist responders have scanners? Many of us and this prevents us from getting a jump on the tones by not hearing the police side. Hoffman retired right?

Not hearing the PD and not getting a just isn't the only issue, the county has screwed up passing info between PD and Fire/EMS lately and not hearing the PD and not getting the whole story or all necessary info has caught some off guard

I sure hope so Mike!!! I can see some pros to it like my son said about the media but I see more cons.

I know what you mean about getting the jump on things I'm not a member of the FD but I work from home and if there is a house alarm or any call around my neighborhood i head right to the window to see if I see anything

They can keep the investigations encrypted just open the routine police calls
I believe I have a right to know if a house a couple doors away from me is getting broke into or if there is somebody robing people

And yes sir he did retire. Not sure if they will remove the encryption for sure me calls. We were told the PD radios have a switch where they can turn off encryption on the radio themselves, but none of the FD/EMS radio have their channels. We shall see what happens

Actually from what I have been told about the Motorola it will accept any radio so it would be a matter of programming and you could have the PD talk group

Yes we were told it will accept any radio that's compliant as well, but the county police chiefs and the comm center came up with their own encryption key codes and nobody has them but the police and the comm center. I'll give it 6months to a year and we'll have them or all the radios will be granted access. They can program and update the radios remotely

I'm sorry, I mean we as everyone. They'll either leak out or the county will realize the problem
