that was i wondering- when i get a bcd396t, i will try to make a trip to
rte 20 in mass and see if its still there.

i do now beleive that its a technical issue with the state police and not with the radios.

I took a trip out of state this weekend and noticed the hanging frequency issue dissappeared when I got out of SW and Central CT. Along RT 84 towards the MA border I didn't have the problem. I agree that it's not atmospheric conditions and must be some technical problem but am still puzzled why it doesn't appear to affect the State Police radios.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem but I've got CSP programmed in my 396 using CC-only mode and several times a day the "dispatch" talkgroups seem to "hang". By that I mean I'll hear a transmission or two and then the channel just sits there with mild static, like something's not being released. A quick press of the Scan button restores everything until the next occurence.

FWIW, my Pro 96 does not hang up on any CSP frequencies. In my case
the problem seems to be specific to Uniden scanners (BCD396T, BC796D
and BC785D). I'm beginning to think there is something about the way
the Unidens handle the CSP system that is causing the problem. Has
anyone else found that their Pro 96 hangs?

I don't have anything other than the 396 for comparison but after scanning CSP for the past week or so, I'm finding that the hangs occur mainly here in the house and when I'm in a poor signal area. It's always on one of the dispatch TG's as well.

This has me wondering if it's something local. Here in the house I've got teenage girls always on the cordless phone, a WiFi network, and my Nextel on charge on the corner of the desk. Most times, I can stop the hang but moving my hand close to the antenna. In the car, I experience the hangs when the signal fades (when comms start getting jumbled, muffled, etc).

I'm not sure what any of this means, but thought I'd mention it to see if it makes anyone go "hmmmmm..."!

As I had posted on ConnScan group, its a scanner issue.

I plugged in all the "suspect" freqs into my Astro Saber and Astro Spectra and noticed nothing unusual. Depending in signal strenght, I have noticed that Unidens tend to hang on channels. There were many times that my 780 would hang on the Hartford system when I lived in the state. It would stay on a tg but rx on the control channel. Same with a couple of LTR systems. I noticed the same thing on the newer Uniden I got at work before I left (796), but wasn't bad at all. I did see it hang once on CSP, but only once.
