• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Help with XG-100P Roaming NAS

I have a question on programming XG100-P NAS on multiple sites, my local Project 25 Phase II has the same WACN and IDEN Sets for all sites, and some of the talk groups are Simulcast in all areas. How can I program all sites in RPM so I don't have to make a new mission plan when I travel? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, Enhanced CC. Set the Band Hunt limits for only that which is necessary (for example, if your system uses 851-853 MHz only, set your Band Hunt limits to 851.0000 and 854.0000.

If you want true roaming like a subscriber would want, with no way to manually control the site you are hearing, you want enhanced cc. Dynamic ProScan will also act mostly this way. Fixed ProScan gives you more manual control of the site.

Use the help menu to read about the differences between these modes and set your system up accordingly. There are also many threads here regarding this topic.

You can also set up a system for each site and assign the same group set to all of them.

Enhanced CC works great in some areas on P25 systems. Where I am at I find FPS or DPS to work the best. ECC picks up a tower close to me, but has no traffic on the site. I have tried setting up RPM to ignore the site, but it still goes to it.

Right… although Harris is great for NAS, there’s no getting around the need for some SU to be registered and affiliated with the site and talk group you want to hear since you can’t request it yourself!

The Harris works great for monitoring trunked systems. You just have to set it up right. For one system in my area Fixed Pro scan works great and I can follow the system when I travel. Another system in my area ECC works the best on that one. Having used APX and XTS for NAS and Harris. I find the Harris much easier to set up for monitoring a trunked system and no risk of accidentally registering with the system with the proper boxes checked or unchecked.

Ya, I’m not disagreeing with you, but all the nice capabilities aside, any NAS radio relies on a subscriber to register the TGs you want to hear (unless the TG is permanently tied to a site). There just isn’t any way around that, unless of course, you can request TGs from the system, in which case, you don’t need to NAS.

Very true my friend. Fortunately, the TG on the systems I monitor are assigned to several sites. Yes, no radio regardless of who makes it when set up for NAS will not hear a TG unless assigned or used on a site. We have all read numerous stories on guys cloning radio ID's so they can register and pull what TG's they want. Yet, those people still haven't figured out with modern software that sys admin use can see that crap plus its illegal as hell.
