Need to be editing the descriptions for the plethora of channels with descriptions like "Common Use", and other such useless garbage, to something that's actually useful instead......

..............................And for those that whine & cry over being given more features they can ignore it.....................................................................................................

Yea, what the heck? Man, I was tired of listening to pleadings about "nationwide" stuff for months. I didn't even know what they were carping about. Now I see the word "nationwide" in the scanner. Shoot, this should be a day of total celebration.

I mean, I am pretty easily satisfied. For instance, I immediately fell in love with the chirping/beeping settings (were they there before?). Shows my level of expertise, lol!

Lately OCO and myself have taken up the cause of writing up HomePatrol Wiki
articles here at RR.com. (With some awesome assistance from ka3jjz) :)

I have enough ideas on what I want to write but here is my question:

What "how to" articles about the features in the new Sentinel and firmware
would you like to see? What articles would help you out?

Please let us know so we can do our best to make sure the articles are
relevant to your needs.

Thanks! :)

Hi Marshall,

I haven't got that "light bulb" breakthrough on the subject of "Trunking Discovery" (or maybe anything in the "Discovery Menu". It's early though, lol.

Thanks,
Rob

I just simply went into Sentinel and avoided the nation wide systems I didn't want to listen too. There clearly marked.

So, why are Canadian nationwide freqs, in the USA section and vice versa?

Not to mention much of which is duplicated info....

Which in turn begs the question why are multiple copies of the same thing being created and maintained?

Both the same thing, but with a proper description in Canada but not the USA ROFL (neither one with proper channel names though SIGH)
Canada > Rail > AAR Standard Channels
USA > Railroads > Railroad Operations VHF

Wow, just typing the above must have pushed me through the "rabbit hole".

"Trunked Discovery In Progress"..."Hits 0"...Lotta chirps, beeps (my settings).....which were "Compare to DB: ON"...and "Log Only New: ON".......probably not gonna find any new, lol....Oops, 1 hit......wow, neat fun, hoho!!

I do believe I have an article started reference the Trunking Discovery Mode.
I will try to see if I can clean it up and get it online before the end of the weekend.
Thanks for the input!

I've spent the last few hours reviewing the revised and expanded Help within Sentinel. I think the message was received by Uniden that there were areas needing more coverage - I believe they have delivered. I'd recommend that anyone using Sentinel take a re-look at the Help section. I've already decided that the an article I was working on can be trimmed, with references instead back to the Sentinel Help pages for much of the basic "how to". I think there's still lots of room though for more in depth information to be posted in the wiki..;)

I was able to try out the LTR analyzer for a bit, and it works pretty well - about the same as the other system type analyzers.

I haven't gotten a chance to try the P25 analyzer to see if it's been improved - I hope so!..

Ok,Ok, Marshall, I'll get to work......(you must have believed that "the checks in the mail" thing). The truth is, folks, I've been encouraged by Marshall and Mike to help...product so far is less than advertised...Right now I'm working on two features that rely on the Profile - I'll get back to them (I was gonna watch the Lions win).

Where's TxWARN P25? Am I looking in the wrong place? There are 928 FDMA talkgroups on this system and one TDMA. As such the system is marked as Phase II (same situation as X2). Can't we still monitor the FDMA talkgroups?

Thanks,
Russell

From the change list:

"Add P25 X2 TDMA systems in HPDB to receive some FDMA Talkgroups. Add "System Info" of P25 X2 TDMA. (Note: This will not enable the HP-1 to receive channels using 2-slot TDMA signalling...only the "Phase 1" type channels that sometimes occur on this kind of system.)"

Sounds like you need to change the System DB entry to System Type: Project 25 Motorola X2-TDMA.

Edit: Just looked at the system. I guess being a Phase II label (even for one TGID as TDMA) is going to be a real problem for the HP-1.
The "one" TGID is not X2-TDMA?

I'm having a blast with the LTR analyzer. I've already found 2 LTR systems in my area from the FCC listing and the HP-1 is logging the LCN. I hope to have more updates later in the week when the system is more active.

You already have 2 other fine LTR tools. The 106 and 197 AUTO-HR. Of course none of them are much good on a barely used system as most are over this way. :(
