Karl,

Have you heard the Burbank paramedics talking to the hospital of late. I know you have to be fairly close because of the low power they use but It has been quite awhile since I heard them talking to the hospital and giving vitals, etc. They used to use 463.050 / 468.050 and 463.100 / 468.100 in talking to St. Joseph's. Are they still using these InterHospital freqs?

Some how, I've got Talk Groups loaded for this type of communication, but have never heard anything on them. Have the paramedics gone to ICIS for communication to the hospitals? If not, will they?

I believe that hospital talkgroup is for hospitals talking to each other? That is the only traffic I have heard on it....and it was a while ago. I dont have those medcom pairs in my scanner, so I dont know if they are still used or not.

I hear Medcom Freq's used off and on rarely. Its not common anymore due to Cell Phones being invented..

It is intersting to hear when the squad asks for status of glendale hospitals and then you gear them on 463.175 for the hospital talking to them and giving them their work and on 468.175 if the unit is close enough that i can hear them. it is at least once a day but sometimes not. maybe the cell phoen is getting more popular with the squads. i think that if they did use icis it would be better so that we could hear both sides all the time. the way it is now it is worst than CHP for listening to one half of the call.

A couple new things....

1.) Beverly Hills cell seems to have added a frequency LCN593 482.2000

2.) TG 36848 was being used by Montebello Detectives

3.) TGs 34032, 34160, 34272, 34288, 34384 appeared on the Unitrunker with new radios being keyed up...I think they fit into the Pasadena TG range, but am not sure.

I am still not certain of ranges for talkgroups and how pasadena fits into the ranges. i still have pasadena on their old channels and only fire is on the icis with verdugo. can you help share some light on this for me?? thanks.

If you added all the ICIS talkgroups (and radio numbers) into a format such as a spreadsheet, you begin to see that certain agencies are grouped together...for example, the Glendale Analog Talkgroups were all from 528-2960, then Burbank started at 2992-3696, then Montebello from 5712-7280...something like that. When talkgroups outside those ranges popped up, new cities (or features such as digital talk groups) were being added to ICIS. Does that make more sense?

On a different note, the latest Unified-Reponse newsletter posted does say that Verdugo Fire Communications did bid on dispatching Montebello Fire Department...so there might be some more changes in store.

For what it's worth, ICIS radios have been testing two talk groups inside the Americana at Brand mall in Glendale most of the day. They have been in all the buildings, stairwells, apartments, condos, elevators, parking garages.

TG 656 Analog
TG 32848 Digital

Website Update

Apparently ICIS has recently added a new section to their website that is titled Agendas & Minutes. Looking at the documents, there is a lot of good information about what is going on.

Check it out!

You have to read the minute notes. They appear to be adding the current Pasadena frequencies to the Glendale Cell....

some other tidbits:

Pomona reported that Cal Poly is interested in joining onto their system.

Burbank reported that Disney is also interested in joining onto their system. (I have heard Disney Fire on the Burbank system once...responding to a fire alarm off site, but Disney leased property....a Disney BC and Engine or Patrol) Warner Bros. FD already has some ICIS radios.

Sgt. Fried informed the Govemance Board that the City of Inglewood is actively pursuing funding
sources to join into IClS as a participating agency. They are looking forward to the process: their
Police Chief will present the information to the City Council in the near future.

....the LA IMPACT contract is almost completed. They should be
on board by mid-August of this year; IDs have been loaded onto the system (75 radios). Waiting for ok from Montebello City Manager, the City of Downey has also expressed an interest.

It appears that the ICIS Radio System is becoming a very robust and popular system for a lot of communities and agencies. Since so many are going to this system and in the interest of Mutual Aid and cooperation between agencies, do you suppose that sometime in the future some of the bigger cities or agencies like L.A. City or L.A. County would consider ICIS?

ICIS Tables for the PSR-500

All,

I'll be staying at the Burbank Marriott Airport Hotel in
early November. I'm starting to set up a file (Win500) for
my PSR-500. I plan on listening to just the Burbank and Glendale sites.

Do I need to put any other sites in that I may receive in that area?
I have also included a snapshot of the Trunking Tables, does this
look like it is set up correctly?

Thanks for any help,
Mark

"Hi Chan" Value

...does this look like it is set up correctly?
You should set the first row's "Hi Chan" value to something less than 500 (so that frequencies for LCN values of 500 and greater will be determined by the second row) but greater than 400 (so that you can still receive 470.2625 correctly).

FYI Burbank Airport can only be heard on the Burbank Cell. Their talkgroups our not set up to roam out side the Burbank Cell.
