I may have missed it if it has been discussed already, but what is the reason for two base channels for the Glendale site? Am I to assume they are both located and utilized at the same cell site?

Because you cannot cover 470 to 482 with one base channel range. You only have a total of 380 channels available and with spacing 12.5 apart it's impossible to reach 482+.

Take a look at this text file. It explains a lot more on how the whole Motorola channel assignment system works for VHF and UHF. It may help you or it may be a bit complicated to understand (it's a math thing).

Is Radio ID turned on or off? If it's on, what happens when you turn it off?

When the radio id is turned off it works normal. Just wanting to find out if I am the only one who is having this problem(?) by the way I have the radio programed, a bug with the radio id, or if has something to do with the ICIS system and this function. It does not go into the flash with Orange County's system.

I think it has to do with the system and the band it's running on. Is there a specific Radio ID you see flashing on the display?

Anyone know the new fire department testing on ICIS? They were talking about a Station 2 and Station 4. The same talkgroups that were testing the tones a few months ago.

I will make a wild guess and say Downey FD...since there was talk of Verdugo bidding on taking over Downey Dispatch...

I would think it is Beverly Hills. Downey station numbers are 60's and they dispatch with Compton.

The talk groups they are using aren't in the Beverly Hills range, and the usage is on Glendale and Montebello cells, not on Beverly Hills. Also, the radio numbers arent in the Beverly Hills radio numbering plan. (using Unitrunker)

I looked at the Downey Fire home page, and while they do have those strange unit numbers, they do list the stations as 1-4

http://downeyfiredepartment.org/11.html

Plus Downey Fire Dispatch is already on ICIS dispatching Montebello...and I have heard some of the Downey system auto-aid units come up on ICIS.

The talkgroups are 39056, 39072, 39088, 39120 and a few others.

Just curious...I guess we will know whenever they go live who it is.

Can you explain what you mean by 'Range'? I have been keep my eye on talkgroups from user to user and many of them don't have any pattern to them they seem to be all over the place exept for Vertigo Fire and even they some out of place.

Now I think one of those new talkgroups is Montebello Transit.

What I meant by range is if you use Unitrunker, you can see more clearly how all the Groups and Radios are organized.

I was just saying that a Talkgroup in the 39xxx neighborhood wouldnt fit the Beverly Hills TG numbering scheme....however it would fit with Montebello, as I believe their digital talk groups would start in the 39xxx area.

Frequency/Talkgroup question

I heard the L.A. Park Rangers say to go to Verdugo ITAC 3 or 4 because their L.A. City EDACS system wasn't working right.Does anybody know what these channels are?

I believe they are talking about ITAC 3 867.5125 and ITAC 4 868.0125 pl 156.7 in this case. They are listed under the LAFD listings on RR.

The Rangers have some LAFD frequencies in their radios, and talkgroups that patch to LAPD and CHP (Clemars).

The Safety Police have LAPD capable radios installed in their trucks to talk directly with LAPD Dispatch....you hear them alot on Northeast Division during containments, etc

Karl,

Have you heard the Burbank paramedics talking to the hospital of late. I know you have to be fairly close because of the low power they use but It has been quite awhile since I heard them talking to the hospital and giving vitals, etc. They used to use 463.050 / 468.050 and 463.100 / 468.100 in talking to St. Joseph's. Are they still using these InterHospital freqs?

Some how, I've got Talk Groups loaded for this type of communication, but have never heard anything on them. Have the paramedics gone to ICIS for communication to the hospitals? If not, will they?

I believe that hospital talkgroup is for hospitals talking to each other? That is the only traffic I have heard on it....and it was a while ago. I dont have those medcom pairs in my scanner, so I dont know if they are still used or not.
