Pasadena PD Dispatch in the Clear

MAYBE the reason is because of the public outcry when they switched over to encryption(?)

I think you've nailed it. This press release was released by Pasadena PD today:

PASADENA POLICE DEPARTMENT 207 N. GARFIELD AVE.
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA 91101
PHILLIP L. SANCHEZ
CHIEF OF POLICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 14, 2012
For More Information:
Lieutenant Phlunte’ Riddle
(626) 744-7875
Pasadena Police Improves Access to Public Information

PASADENA, Calif. – The Pasadena Police Department is increasing its public information efforts by providing more crime statistic information on its website and the radio frequency codes for the public to listen to radio calls for service.
On Thursday, June 14 the Pasadena Police Department will release the programing information needed to listen to the Pasadena Police radio. Pasadena Chief of Police Phillip L. Sanchez said, "I am pleased to provide access to the department's information sharing networks, which includes the police radio talk group code. Listeners will hear the initial broadcast to include call type, location and time of occurrence. The technology solution strikes a balance between open communication, victims’ rights and enhancing emergency response."
The technical information for the Pasadena Police Department's talk group is 39760 or 2485, depending on the make and model of the digital scanner. The public will now hear the initial call for service broadcast; however, follow up transmissions will be encrypted.
The Pasadena Police Department is also reminding citizens that crime data is available on the department's website. The community can check for specific crimes within a day of the reported incident on Crime Mapping - Building Safer Communities!. Information can also be obtained by viewing posted crime statistics on line at City of Pasadena or by subscribing to NIXLE. Closed calls will be updated twice daily and will contain information from the most recent five-day period. For safety and privacy reasons, incidents involving minors, sexual assaults and other sensitive call types will be excluded from the daily postings. The log can be seen at City of Pasadena.

Don't write off the old Pasadena freq's.

For much of the evening they have been using former PD Ch3 482.5375 PL 151.4, for an event at the Rose Bowl.

I compared it to activity on the ICIS site and it was not a patch or simulcast.

I was in the '626' area today and heard it as well. I wonder why they weren't using their trunking system(?)

Burbank PD is on BPD Access right now...they just had a footchase in the Village. I turned on Unitrunker and not too many radios are affiliating with the Burbank Cell of ICIS...

Custom Tables for ICIS Figured Out

I was having a difficult time figuring out the custom tables for ICIS and figured it out. I use to have a GRE PSR800 and it always worked fine but not on my GRE 600. So I loaded up the software on the PSR 800 and imported the ICIS information from RR and looked at the custom tables and made an excel spreadsheet and then inserted the custom tables into my ARC-XT software and it works just fine now.

Does Pasadena PD have an access channel like Burbank PD, Glendale PD, and Verdugo have?

From a LA County document the following ICIS users have access channels.

Burbank
Burbank Airport
Culver City (has 2 now apparently – one analog, one digital)
Glendale
Montebello
Pasadena
Pomona
San Marino (also used for EOC)
South Pasadena
Vergudo

We have Glendale, Verdugo and the Culver City analog one in the Db. If anyone has the remaining ones kindly submit them.

Also speaking of access channels, now apparently Santa Monica has one also as they operate Encrypted. If anyone knows what SM is using for outside-access please send that in also.

I'm informed 482.025 is the Burbank Outside Agency Access channel.

The PL is not confirmed, but when it was previously used prior to moving to ICIS it was listed as 85.4. If anyone can confirm that would be great.

Db updated.

I'm not sure what changed in the FCC modification, but those all are the existing BH ICIS frequencies and sites.

I picked up a talkgroup on the Glendale cell that I hadn't logged before: 39600
It's encrypted.

There was also some encrypted traffic on 39456 around the same time yesterday. I've been seeing 39456 on Glendale cell for quite a while.

Converting 39600 and 39456 from Dec to Hex, 39600 should be 9ab or Pasadena PD 11 and 39456 is 9a2 or Pasadena Tac2, which sounds right as both are encrypted.

This morning I heard an LASO air ship dispatched to assist Pasadena PD and the LASO dispatcher said to use Pasadena PD primary … well naturally the air ship wasn’t able to communicate with Pasadena PD (interop?) so they ended up using Mut Aid 5. At one point the Pasadena dispatcher said that if the air ship had old Pasadena 1 they could communicate with the ground units … could old Pasadena 1 be their access channel?

Re: Beverly Hills' WQGL724 License Modification (7-15-2012 posts)

The only thing I can find that's changed is ALL of the contact information. Looks like they dropped the Richter Group and are handling their license stuff in-house:
ULS Application - Public Safety Pool, Trunked - 0005246037 - BEVERLY HILLS, CITY OF - Transaction Log

Guess that qualifies as a "major" change type?

Yeah maybe old Pasadena PD 1 is the access. I know several weeks back there was an event at the Rose Bowl and for some reason Pasadena PD and traffic control units were all on their former PD 3 482.5375 PL 151.4, while nothing on ICIS.
