Might be interesting to monitor the Oat P25 site further to see if any additional frequencies pop up beyond the 4 I was able to determine as the Oat SmartZone site has 6 frequencies.

I put the frequency in unitrunker and also getting just 4 freqs. I'll take a look in a few days to see if that changes.

A couple pieces of news.

Per ICIS board meeting notes they are working on licensing 8 ICIS owned frequency pairs to the San Gabriel Valley site. 6 currently are installed on Oat and 2 are unused.
I guess they finally figured out using business band frequencies with other users on them in parts of the LA basin was not a good idea after all.

Separately Area-G cities of El Segundo, Gardena, Hermosa, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Manhattan Beach and Torrance are working on establishing a Joint Powers Authority to operate a proposed interoperable radio system and seek to use ICIS as the backbone.
Apparently Torrance already received grant funding to start process to upgrade to P25 using multiple regional repeater site and wants to use its already "affiliate" status in ICIS to help enable the JPA project.

Is the ICIS P25 site TDMA or FDMA? Guessing it's FDMA since it's a Phase I system?
Yes its FDMA today. I suspect however with continued upgrades the system might evolve into a Phase-II TDMA someday.

Has anyone been able to decipher which extended tables are used for any of the new P25 ICIS sites? PRO96COM shows 12 identifiers for the the whole system ... Which ones are used at each site? This info is needed to program these systems in a Pro-96. Thanks

CCPD going encrypted?

Does anybody know or have heard if CCPD is going to be encrypted? I hope not as I have been listening to them for years.

I-C-I System

Funny stuff ---

From ICIS JPA Meeting:

In respect to the growing concern and negative feedback regarding the similarity on
pronunciation between ICIS acronym and that of the Middle East terrorist group, Director
Edey proposed to the board to consider using other alternative. He explained that it will
prevent the inconvenience of everyone concerned having to repeatedly explain the enormous
difference of both entities and to put a stop on the negative correlation of the good
organization to the terrorist group. To avoid the complex legal name change process and not
to depart from the current recognizable brand and logo, Director Edey recommended to use
“I-C-I System.”
Motion that for the next 6 months to refer the former acronym “ICIS” as the “I-C-I System”
was made.

Can anyone check to find out what site the below two new frequencies belong to. I suspect its Oat and that it too far for me to receive from my location.

I received an email stating P25 traffic with NAC370 was noted on these frequencies.

471.3625
471.8375

Thanks

Burbank had its P25 cutover on Monday Feb 23rd.

Glendale plans to transition on March 21st.

If anyone is within reception range of Burbank, would appreciate if they could give a listen and confirm frequency line up.

Listening for about an hour, the frequency lineup is as listed under the Smartzone freqs list: 470.06250c, 470.11250a, 470.16250a, 470.23750a, 470.28750, 470.32500, 471.05000, 471.07500, along with 470.1875 which is under the P25 standard list for Burbank.

Confirmed TGs: 2161 PD Disp, 2163 PD Blue3, 2167 Animal Shelter and Verdugo fire, 2101 Red 1 and 2102 Red 2. Also heard 2199, not in the list of TGs but sounded like City Parks and Rec.

I'll keep monitoring....

Unless if someone tells me otherwise the Burbank P25 system line up will be.

470.06250c
470.11250a
470.16250a
470.18750
470.23750a
470.28750
470.32500
471.05000

If there are any changes to Alt/Control frequencies let me know.

I have also depreciated the Burbank SmartZone site.

Ran unitrunker for a while today on Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena P25 Sites:

The burbank channels you listed are correct and confirmed.

All Pasadena frequencies are correct except for voice channels 477.1625 & 477.3125. I flipped back through this thread and saw that they were reported as possibly not active in Feb of last year. I think it's been enough time that we can remove them?

I would not mind removing them except for fact that 477.1625 and 477.3125 are listed in a published frequency table for the system.

Glendale PD is still on their "old" SmartZone 4.1 cell. As has been announced here recently, they move to their P-25 cell later this month.

I heard Glendale PD Dispatch and PD Air 1 on Burbank's P-25 system on Friday evening, 3/4/2016. TG# 2093. They must be in the middle of transitioning. from Smartnet.

Glendale PD has been active on the Pasadena P25 system for quite a while also. The Glendale P25 system is up and running but they haven't turned on Glendale PD and Verdugo Fire talkgroups yet. All that is on the air now is non public safety talkgroups. As posted before they should cutover around 3/21.

Question,
Why would Glendale be active on the Pasadena tower...it's located by Colorado and the 210 freeway...I can't imagine Glendale units would be able to hit that low tower.

Any insight?

Several things about that. First of all, the Pasadena cell is multi-site voted receive / simulcast transmit. The site you mention is not the only site (and BTW, that's not the correct location for it anyway). If that was the only site for Pasadena, they would have terrible coverage in the west end of Pasadena. The Pasadena cell covers most of Glendale fairly well (not Public Safety grade coverage however). I'm typing this post while sitting in my office in the Glendale Civic Center and receiving the Pasadena cell just fine.

Most of the Glendale police and fire radios have been programmed with P-25 in them, but their talkgroups are not yet allowed on the Glendale P-25 cell, so if a user switches his or her radio to a P-25 zone, the radio will be denied on the Glendale P-25 cell and will roam to another P-25 cell that it can receive where it is allowed. Largely because of the helicopters, the Glendale PD talkgroups have allowed on the Pasadena cell since shortly after the Pasadena cell was put on the air. Of course the VFCC talkgroups are also allowed on the Pasadena cell.
