I recently got an SDS100 and programmed it to scan PSERN NORCOM. I've noticed that during transmission on Fire Dispatch 1 (TGID: 1399), the audio intermittently cuts out for a half to full second as the digital voice is relaying the run information. Unfortunately, it typically cuts out just as some part of the address is being communicated. Does anyone know what might be causing that and if there's a workaround to prevent it from happening? I have FD1 as a priority channel, but it doesn't seem like it would/should cut in on itself. Thank you!

I've experienced that too. It seems to happen too frequently for it to be coincidence. All I can figure is they are "bleeping it out", like on TV, except without the bleep.

I'd bet the priority is checking itself....
The firmware tells it to check, no matter what it is checking.

i do not have that radio, but try this.
To Toggle Priority Modes in Scan Mode press Func then .no(Pri) to select On, DND On, or Off.
DND means do not disturb, that means you won't be interrupted if you are receiving something.

One thing you might try: Listen to your scanner and the Valley Com feed on Broadcastify to see if the address is disappearing on both.

I should have noted that earlier. Broadcastify works uninterrupted/as expected, which is why it has to have something to do with my SDS100 configuration.

I noticed that when the audio cuts out the display shows P25 NAC: 3A5h in the lower right-hand corner and nothing is shown under the date at the top of the screen. The connectivity bars in upper right-hand corner also disappear.

It broadcasts as expected when it shows NAC: 3A5h in the LRHC and P25P2 shows immediately under the date at the top. All connectivity bars appear.

See these two "screen captures":

By the way, sorry, I confused VallyCom with Norcom, but I see you got my point. That is super weird. I have experienced in the past before, I'll plug in my Bearcat and see if it happens to me again too.

Kudos for getting these. Could be a piece of the puzzle.

I just noticed this suggested forum post and read thru it. Maybe it is the same as what you're experiencing?

Thank you for your help. That gentlemen reported a 5 second mute, whereas mine only cuts out for less than a second. My best course of action may be to cross-post this to the Uniden forum, since the problem seems SDS100 specific.

You're welcome. If you do post over there (I think it's a good idea too), can you put a link here? I'd like to follow it. Good luck!

I recently got an SDS100 and noticed that the audio intermittently cuts out for a half to full second as the Dispatcher's digital voice is relaying run information. I first noticed this in Washington state | King County | PSERN | NORCOM | Fire Dispatch 1 (TGID: 1399) and again with Ocala Fire Dispatch when I was in Orlando. It makes it almost impossible to hear the street address. I have tried it with Priority or DND turned on and off.

It broadcasts as expected when it shows NAC: 3A5h in the lower right-hand corner, P25P2 shows immediately under the date at the top, and I see five (5) connectivity bars. I noticed that when the audio cuts out the display shows P25 NAC: 3A5h in the lower right-hand corner and zero (0) connectivity bars. See the two "screen captures" below.

Any idea why that's happening and/or how what configuration setting can prevent that from happening? Thank you!

You will soon get responses asking for the exact system that you're listening to and your hometown County and state. Also check to see if there's any priorities on,

If I can make a suggestion and let us know how this works out for you.

On the radio itself with the keyboard so as you can get real time results instantly. Follow these steps, Hit menu, scroll to settings and hit the, control knob, scroll to site NAC operation and press control knob. Select ignore sight NAC with control knob. Press avoid once and monitor your system and see if there's an improvement.

Would you please report back to us and let us know if there's an improvement in performance? Thanks.. Bob

Turn off priority, weather alerts and close call and see if it disappears. It’s one of these and I think I see you have weather alerts turned on.
Thank you. I'd read the SDS100 Owner's manual cover to cover, but I didn't notice anything the first time through. I found the "Scanning interrupted every few seconds" on page 49 the second time around and turned off the Weather priority. That seems to have fixed it!

I found the answer! I turned off the Weather priority which seems to have fixed it!

FWIW, I'd read the SDS100 Owner's manual cover to cover, but I didn't notice anything the first time through. I found the "Scanning interrupted every few seconds" on page 49 the second time around which led me to weather priority.
