Random question, are Motorola radios the only radios allowed to be used on the ISICS system or could a county or department choose to use another brand?

I haven't really noticed this, but now that you said something about it I haven't seen DNR or DPS officer's use anything else other then APX's. I do know that under ISICS my county is listed in region six interoperability, and the only radios our county uses are Harris.

The Starcom (Sioux City area) folks run a mix of Motorola and Kenwood. Sioux City has a Motorola dealer and South Sioux City (Nebraska) has a Kenwood dealer.

At least in the des moines area, some agencies on ISICS use Harris portables.

From what I've been told, you don't use TGID #1. It's the default TGID in a radio when you add a new TG in the programming...so if there was traffic on it, it was probably a improperly programmed radio.
Interesting, Just head heard extended conversations between units that were self-identifying TGID 1 as R1 Tac14. The Unit IDs indicate they are radios assigned to Warren County and the conversation leads me to believe they are firefighter radios. They might have a few mis-programmed radios.

Heard TG 45229 testing this morning from what I assume is Muscatine County. Unsure what service, but it was from a series of RID's from 7000221 to 7000224. Will have to check my logs later.

Key sentence: Iowa intends to build out its 700 MHz Project 25, Phase II system in three phases
to provide coverage to the state, including rural areas.25 Iowa estimates providing service (1) to one third
of the population by December 31, 2016 and (2) to two-thirds of the population by December 31, 2017.
No coverage in Decorah, none til you go south to West Union. Very weak signals there. Winneshiek county is on vhf with p25 or analog clear.
Some iscis coverage in south half of the county. Maybe the hilltops have coverage.

Thank you. I plan on putting everything together on a shareable spreadsheet. Would be nice if the UIDs were part of the RR Database
I use the Wiki for general ranges when I see something unfamiliar on IA TAC2, gives me a good idea the geographic area. Best of luck.

For those in Eastern Iowa, I finally found out what TG 4270 is. MedForce One, encrypted. Heard them assisting Wheatland Ambulance yesterday in Calamus. They were clear on County Fire 1. But as soon as they cleared the LZ, went back to 4270. Same RID's as previously noted.

From what I remember when I lived in the Quad Cities, MedForce One is based out of Illinois. Wondering if that was just a patch channel. Looks to me like they are on the Starcom System
I have been tracking this talkgroup for about a year. RID's are from 15000009 to 15000103 with 15000104 appearaing to be a control operator. It has been my experience, that patched talkgroups from another system to ISICS do not have a unique RID.

The earliest log I have is from 05-02-23 at 13:33:38. The RID's are consistant with other commercial users and Ambulance services on ISICS. (15001045 being DeWitt Ambulance based at Genesis Hospital as an example).

Database Admins -- Sorry for such a newbie question from a veteran, but . . . If I have a new talkgroup but I haven't been able to ascertain specifically what it's for, do you want that information in the database? Like for instance, I've seen 41928 and 41929 in use. These are in the Lyon County talkgroup block, and I have heard Lyon County deputies and/or dispatch using them briefly, based on audio and on P25 Unit ID's. Do you want these submitted, or should I hold off until I can find out what they're being used for?

I feel like we would want a tad more information before adding it to the database. As little as if it's a dispatch, tactical, car to car type channel would help.
