Frankfort here. Monitoring the local ham bands as well as Franklin, Scott, and Woodford co. frequencies. Have had various scanners for years, kinda got away from them for a while but picking it up again. Just renewed my amateur license and it kinda got me interested again. I am originally from Pike co., saw someone else here that was from that area...ever heard of Blackberry Creek?....work in Georgetown now, have family in Versailles......New to this website and forum.....great site!

I am located in Ohio, about 35 miles north of KY.
My family tree is rooted deep in KY, but I don't get back there very often.
I regularily pick up signals from well within the Bluegrass State. For some reason the Nicholas County Sheriff
comes in regularily here and is 88 miles southeast of me. I've been able to add quite a bit to the KY database here
when signal enhancement is rolling in, and hope it continues.

pjackson and KF4ALQ:
Welcome to the forum.... I live in Woodford County and my work (Lexington) keeps me on the road all over Central and Eastern Kentucky--I have most of the law/fire/EMS, etc. freqs east of I-65 programmed into my scanners. I have one dedicated to just finding or identifying freqs in the immediate area. You will find this is an awesome place to get answers and find more questions that need yet more answers.

What kinds of scanners do you two use--if I can help with freqs or files for Rat Shack scanners, let me know.....

By the way KF4, when 194 over Bent Mountain was a real drive and before the Cut-Through rerouted the Levisa Fork I had a girlfriend who lived on Dinky Road outside Mc Veigh…her best friend lived on the Right Fork of Blackberry.

My inventory

I own one scanner... it is never on!! I seem to prefer radios to scanner land. No hate, gonna have to get a big-rig for when MetroSafe goes 800... if it does. Here is my inventory:

1 X GE M-RK scan 146-174 Mhz
1 X GE M-PA select 146-174 Mhz
1 X GE M-PA scan 146-174 Mhz
1 X GE M-PD select 450-470 Mhz
1 X Regency RH256 Vhf
1 X Kenwood TK-830H Uhf
1 X Motorola Minitor III Vhf w/amplified charger
2 X M-PA M-PD M-TL convertacoms
1 X Realistic Pro-2024

In addition to that... at work I kinda use a Motorola CentraCom Elite dispatch computer and a Moto-Bridge that I kinda have to teach people how to use...!

Hey OFD8001, Can I get a radio issued to me?!? I don't have any at all!!

I live in Murray and have been listening to 146.94 and there is a guy that lives on the same street as I do. Would like to hear from him as I am a retired Coast Guard Master Chief Radioman and would like to get with him about the Skywarn system. The street name is Greenbriar Rd. I also listen to about 35 channels for the area around me on an old BC 100XLT. I also am an American Red Cross volunteer so I keep about 30 channels open for whatever city I am deployed to. Recently got back from DR661 - Hurricane Wilma. Hopefully he is a member of this fine site and I can hook up with him. AR VA PK.

Anyone have a blank Excel spreadsheet to keep freqs on?

What I want to do is get an Excel spreedsheet that I can copy/paste myRR info right into the spreadsheet without having to do anything else. Be nice to keep up with the channels on my BC100xlt and can print it out as needed. If anyone could help me do this it would be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance, PK54.

Knott County here. Just getting back into scanning with a new BCD396T I presented myself for Christmas yesterday. I hope to soon be scanning KSP post 13 in Hazard and post 9 Pikeville along with Knott, Floyd, Perry and Letcher counties. I am making progress programming but not hearing much activity on the KSP. Is the digital signal pretty strong here in the mountains. I have so far only heard the KSP Hindman transmitter and it was super clear and unlike anything I had ever heard from a scanner. I just haven't figured out why I'm not hearing any other digital stuff from KSP as I have several frequencies from Knott, Pike, Perry and Letcher entered. I'm still working at it but any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. My email is wbull@tgtel.com

Disabled E-911 Dispatcher

I monitor everything in Greenup County. I can also monitor Boyd County but I live in Greenup.

Greenup's new E-911 center is nice and I believe will serve Greenup County very well.
They have a few bugs in their procedures as in 4 main dispatch frequencies for 13 fire departments when one will do if they put voters in and increase the number of repeaters.
then they could use the other 7 frequencies as fire ground with 3 of those repeatered.

I posted a frequency update to this site but I haven't see it posted yet.

I'm also a HAM KD4OVM and a member of the City of Greenup and Wurtland Fire Departments. Since I am disabled I do all the paper work for them.
